The Iowa Hawkeyes will head north Thursday night to take on the Wisconsin Badgers in a battle of two ranked Big Ten teams.
Iowa is coming off a blowout victory against Michigan State this past weekend. The Hawkeyes defeated the Spartans by 30 points and have now won two games in a row.
Wisconsin led by a large margin at halftime, but ultimately fell short at home against a very good Michigan team. The Badgers are 3-4 in their last seven games.
Iowa Hawkeyes
After picking up two big wins against Rutgers and Michigan State, Iowa finds itself 9-5 in conference play, good for fourth in the Big Ten. Iowa is currently a half game ahead of the Badgers in the conference standings, adding even more incentive to this game for both teams.
Iowa put up 88 points against the Spartans and continued to show why they are arguably the best offensive team in the country. Over its last two games, Iowa is shooting 24 of 48 from 3-point range. The Hawkeyes have hit at least eight 3-pointers in each of their last four games.
Luka Garza has been the obvious star of the show for this team, but credit must be given to the Hawkeye backcourt as well. The 6’6″ guard is averaging a career-high 15.4 PPG on 50 percent shooting and 49 percent from downtown this season.
Iowa has soared to 11th in the nation in 3-point shooting this season at 39.1 percent. They also have the lowest turnover rate of any team in college basketball. The defense has been sporadic, particularly at the 3-point line. Despite their struggles on the defensive end, the Hawkeyes have still proven to be one of the elite teams in college basketball.
Wisconsin Badgers
The Badgers have been an up and down 3-4 in their last seven games after starting conference play 6-2. They are still an impressive team on both ends of the floor, ranking in the top 30 in the nation in both offensive and defensive efficiency.
Wisconsin has particularly excelled in taking care of the ball and 2-point defense. The Badgers have the fourth lowest turnover rate in the country and have the ninth best team defensive rating in the country.
D’Mitrik Trice is the leading scorer for Wisconsin with 13.6 points per game while shooting 41.4 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from three-point range. Micah Potter is second on the team with 11.6 PPG and leads the team with 5.9 RPG.
The Wisconsin Badgers have a deep rotation with seven players averaging at least 5 PPG.
The Badgers offense has gone cold over the last three games. During that stretch, the Badgers shot just 19-75 from deep and did not surpass 60 points in any of those three contests.
The Badgers are still 75th in the nation in 3-point percentage at 35.8, but must regain their form from deep to turn things around. They have a good chance to do that against an Iowa ream that doesn’t defend well from the outside.

Free Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Wisconsin Badgers NCAAB Prediction:
Wisconsin should find themselves from an offensive standpoint in this game. Iowa was able to take advantage of a reeling Michigan State team, but the Badgers are a whole different animal, especially on defense. Wisconsin should have a good night shooting the ball against the Hawkeyes defense. The Badgers also have the frontline to disrupt Garza.
