A middling Big Ten battle is taking place early Saturday, as the Hoosiers head to Columbus to battle the Buckeyes at High Noon.
I finished January at 13-3 on my CBB picks posted here on CappersPicks! I hope to start February off just as hot, so let’s get into it…
Indiana Hoosiers
Indiana are 5-5 in conference play this season, but are coming off back-to-back losses; a one-point home loss to Maryland and a 15-point road loss to Penn State.

So, they probably need to pull it together. Since Dec. 13th, the Hoosiers are 3-8 ATS, and are only 6-5 SU. At one point, the Hoosiers were ranked 20th in KenPom overall adjusted efficiency, but have steadily dropped down to 40th.
They are a fairly well rounded team, with KenPom having them at 54th in adjusted offense and 42nd in adjusted defense. They get to the line well, and are a really good rebounding team (26th in Off. Reb. %, 16th in Def. Reb. %).
They are really bad at shooting the deep ball. Their 3PA/FGA is 330th in the nation (29.5%) and their 3P% is 298th in the nation (30.5%).
Freshman forward Trayce Jackson-Davis leads the team in scoring and rebounding, as he’s putting up 14/8 while shooting 61.3% from the field.
Ohio State Buckeyes
For a three-week period in December, the Buckeyes were no doubt the best college basketball team in the nation. In their first Big Ten conference game, they beat Penn State at home by 32 points.
Then, something weird happened. On Dec. 29th, they lost a neutral court battle to West Virginia by eight points. Since that game, they are 2-6 SU and 1-7 ATS. Y I K E S.
This slide has led to a 3-6 conference record, which has them 11th in the Big Ten.
Somehow, they are still rated 13th in KenPom overall adjusted efficiency. They have a 23rd-ranked adjusted offense and a 19th-ranked adjusted defense, with a Net Rating of +17. Plus Seventeen.
So, yeah, the Buckeyes are a bit mercurial. And their leader, Kaleb Wesson, has been putting up decent numbers (14/10) but his shooting splits have taken a hit (42.4/33.3/63.0 since the WVU loss). But maybe his efficiency issues are just a phase.
CBB Betting Trends:
- Under is 8-2 in IND last 10 overall.
- Under is 6-2 in IND last 8 vs. Big Ten.
- Under is 6-2 in OSU last 8 overall.
- IND are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
- Home team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings.

Free Indiana Hoosiers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes NCAAB Prediction: Ohio State turns a corner.
Ohio State just went on the road against Northwestern, won convincingly and covered as seven-point favorites.
I understand that it’s Northwestern, who are in last place in the Big Ten, but I think this is a good spot for the Buckeyes here. They are coming back home after a confidence-boosting road win, and are playing a team they generally dismantle on their home court (take a gander at the matchup trends).
I think there’s a good chance that the Buckeyes end up as home dogs here, and if so, I think this is a great Saturday morning bet.
Additionally, just betting the trends, the Under has been en fuego for both teams in their last 10-game stretches. Add in the 12pm tip-off time, wherein early games equals Unders, and I look at this as a classic Big Ten, low-scoring, physical affair. Go Buckeyes!
