The bulldogs come into this matchup after an early fight with the 16 seeded Georgia State Panthers before turning on the gas and blowing them out in the 2nd half. The Zags got 31 points from Drew Timme and another 19 points from Chet Holmgren who was also 3 blocks short of a triple-double.

Memphis Tigers
I mean, you have to start when talking about the Tigers with how they underperformed after a preseason Top 5 ranking for this squad. Even after that rough start, the Tigers have rang off victories in 7 of 8 with the lone loss coming to Houston in the AAC Championship Game.
They looked very strong in their convincing victory over Boise State in round 1 with an 11 point victory. Tigers had a pretty balanced attack on offense in the game with 3/5 starters scoring in double figures with the other 2 putting 9 & 8.
Even though Gonzaga has the number 1 scoring offense, Memphis is 55th PPG, 34th in FG% and 60th in 3pt%. They are really going to need to battle on the boards and not give the Zag’s multiple attempts on the offensive side of the ball.
Something interesting to watch in this game is Emoni Bates and if he sees more playing time for Memphis. He was very limited against Boise State playing 3 minutes and hitting his lone shot.
I wouldn’t bank of seeing Bates playing many more minutes, but maybe we will see him get to 7-10 minutes for the Tigers which could provide a difference for them.
