This is a nice matchup of ranked teams down in the Bahamas. Whoever wins will get a bump but regardless both will have a nice measuring stick of where they are.
The Huskies might be one of the more underrated teams in the country heading into the season. They look pretty loaded to me.
The Wolverines will be a factor in the B10 this season. They are very good on the perimeters including a player of the year candidate in Caris LeVert, who looks like he is fully recovered from his injuries of a year ago. He is averaging 19ppg.
The same cannot be said of Zak Irvin, who had offseason surgery and has not been able to find the range yet. When he is right he can be a dangerous shooter and they need him to be a threat when they play good teams like UConn.
The PG spot is well manned for the Wolverines with Derrick Walton and Spike Albrecht. Both are fearless playmakers. Big Blue is all set on the outside but needs more inside as the season progresses.
I am still surprised that many in the media selected SMU as the best team in the AAC this year. The Mustangs should be alright but for my money UConn is the horse to back and nothing I have seen so far has convinced me other wise.
Similar to Michigan this team is loaded on the perimeter. Sterling Gibbs has dropped in as a grad transfer and is leading the team in scoring and another transfer Rodney Purvis (from a previous class) is second.
Neither of those guys may be as valuable as Daniel Hamilton who leads the team in rebounding despite his slight frame. He is averaging 8/8.
The Huskies really do have a little bit of everything including the best rim protector in college ball, Amidah Brimah. The 7 footer is averaging more than 4 blocks per game thus far this season. He enables them to be solid on defense while pressuring the ball on the perimeter.
CBB Betting Trends:
- Under is 37-15-1 in UCONN last 53 Wed. games.
- MICH are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 Wed. games.
- Under is 15-7 in MICH last 22 Wed. games.
Free CBB Prediction:
There is a lot to like with both of these teams. Connecticut looks like the right play to me as they are deeper in the perimeter and can count on some production inside too.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Connecticut ATS
If Michigan is going to have a chance they are going to have to knock down a bunch of triples. Even though the Huskies have Gibbs they are not really bombers. It could be an equalizer.
