Butler’s defense will have to be as good and likely a good bit luckier than it was earlier this week against St. John’s, when it held the Johnnies to just four-of-twenty-two from behind the arc, if its to hold Creighton on Saturday.

Creighton hit nine in a 92–75 blowout of Marquette on Wednesday, which wasn’t anything special for it.
Five guys were in double-figures, including Mitch Ballock and Ty-Shon Alexander, who combined for forty-five. The Blue Jays had sixteen assists to just eight turnovers.

Butler won that wild Big East opener, on the road, against the previously 11–2 St. John’s at Carnesecca Arena earlier this week, 60–58.
The Bulldogs took a twenty-one-point lead into halftime but the Red Storm erased the deficit in twelve minutes, tying the game at the seven-minute mark and taking the lead shortly after.
It opened up its own five-point advantage before Butler went on a final run to snatch a victory. Kamar Baldwin, who made five three-pointers of his own, made the extra pass to the corner and found Sean McDermott, who drained the go-ahead three.
Baldwin (19) and McDermott (12) were the only two starters in double-figures. Jordan Tucker, a junior forward who is the only player on Butler’s roster to have arrived as a freshman with a top-100 ranking from the Recruitment Services Consensus Index, had a dozen in twenty-two minutes off the bench.
Remarkably, Butler turned the ball over twenty-two times to St. John’s seven and only shot forty percent from the field.
It held St. John’s to 34.5 percent from the field, including that four-of-twenty-two from three.
