The No. 5-seed Colorado Buffaloes will take on the No. 4-seed Florida State Seminoles at Indiana Farmers Coliseum in the second round of the East Region on Monday night.
This could be the game of the day. According to KenPom’s thrill score metric, Colorado-Florida State is expected to be the most exciting game on Monday’s schedule. The Buffaloes cruised through the PAC-12 season, finishing with a 23-8 overall mark and a 14-6 record in PAC-12 play. Meanwhile, Florida State finished 17-6 overall and second in the ACC with an 11-4 conference record.
The winner is set to take on the winner between Michigan and LSU, with an eye towards the Elite 8.
Colorado Buffaloes
Colorado bounced back with a 96-73 victory in the opening round against No. 12 seed Georgetown. Jabari Walker finished with 24 points while McKinley Wright chipped in 12 points and 13 assists for the Buffaloes, who shot a red-hot 16-for-25 from 3-point range on the night.
Colorado shocked many with their play on Saturday as they were a team that was floated around a lot in talks to be on upset alert. They shut that down quickly by taking it to the Hoyas off the jump and getting out to a 24 point lead at the break. They shot extremely efficiently from deep range and spread the ball nicely totaling up 27 assists to just 12 for Georgetown.
The No. 5 seed Buffaloes have scored 116.1 points per 100 possessions for the season (11th in the NCAA) while only surrendering 92.1 points per 100 possessions for the season (25th in the NCAA)
Florida State Seminoles
Leonard Hamilton’s Seminoles are looking to redeem last year’s premature end to the season. The ACC regular season and tournament runner-ups have fallen on inconsistent times of late, failing to win back-to-back games since mid-February, but did look strong in the ACC semifinals against a surging UNC team.
Florida State took down No. 13-seed UNC Greensboro 64-54 on Saturday to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. RaiQuan Gray scored 17 points and Balsa Koprivica added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Seminoles, who never trailed despite shooting 0-for-9 from 3-point range on the night.
That poor 3pt shooting will need to get better quickly as the Buffaloes just lit up the scoreboard going 16-25 from deep in their first round. The shooting ability from both teams could likely play the difference as we’ve seen before it can get ugly quick if one team gets hot and the other does not.
Florida State will have the advantage inside as they boast a large sized lineup that often generates rebounds and second chance opportunities. The Seminoles have a balanced scoring attack as M.J. Walker (13 ppg) leads the way, then Raiquan Gray (12 ppg, 6.5 rpg), and potential future NBA lottery pick, Scottie Barnes (11 ppg, 4.2 apg, 1.5 spg). Barnes has built like a forward, with incredible ball-handling skills, and will have the ability to post of UNCG’s undersized guards throughout.

Free Colorado Buffaloes vs. Florida State Seminoles NCAAB Prediction:
Colorado shot the lights out in the first round but that performance wasn’t necessarily an anomaly for this squad. The Buffaloes have shot the ball well from deep all season long. They have good guard play and have been solid on the defensive glass as well, which should help pull off the upset in this game. Take Colorado to cover the number in this second-round battle on Monday.
