The BYU Cougars will travel to Springfield and take on the Missouri State Tigers this Saturday afternoon for a non-conference battle..
BYU is favored by five points on the road here here.
BYU Cougars
BYU has started 2021 with two solid non-conference wins and they’ll look to make it a third this evening. After taking care of Cleveland State at home, BYU defeated their former Mountain West rival San Diego State in a closely contested game, 66-60.
The Cougars are spearheaded by super senior Alex Barcello. This won’t be the 6’2 guard’s first time facing Oregon, as he spent his first two years at Arizona, but he will have much more of a load to shoulder this time around. Barcello leads the team with 20.5 ppg.
There’s a bit of a drop-off in production and reliability beyond Barcello this season. Veteran guard Te’Jon Lucas transferred in after leading Milwaukee U in scoring, and he’s second on the team with 9.5 ppg and 4.0 apg.
Youngsters Caleb Lohner and Fousseyni Traore start up front for BYU, and they both average a strong 8 rpg.
Missouri State Bears
Missouri State has started the season on a good note, notching non-conference wins over Sam Houston State and George Washington. All three of their losses have come by five points or less, so look for them to hang with the Cougars here.
Gaige Prim has been a force down low for the Bears. The 6’9 senior posted a strong double-double against Illinois State, marking his fourth of the year. He leads the team with 20.3 ppg and 10.6 rpg.
Isiaih Mosley has taken a bigger step in year three, bringing dynamic play to the backfield. The 6’5 guard scored 23 points in the road win over Long Beach State, and he’s second on the team in scoring (18.3) and rebounding (5.1).
Jaylen Minnett and Donovan Clay joined via transfer portal last summer. Minnett is third on the team with 12.8, while Clay is third in rebounds (4.7).
Veteran guard Demarcus Sharp leads the team with 4.8 apg.

Free BYU Cougars vs. Missouri State Bears NCAAB Prediction: BYU to Cover
This matchup will put BYU in a tough spot on the road, but we want to trust the pedigree of the programs here.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: BYU -3.5
BYU has played well through the first, notching road wins over Oregon and Utah, so we know what they’re capable of away from Provo. The Bears have played every team close so far this season, and that likely won’t change here. The manageable margin of four and the play of Alex Barcello has us sold in this spot.
Trust BYU to cover on the road for the fourth time in five tries.
