The Creighton Blue Jays will host the Butler Bigger for a Big East matchup this Tuesday evening.
Creighton will be favored to win at home here.
Butler Bulldogs
Butler came out of the non-conference slate 7-4 and began Big East play with a home victory over DePaul. The Bulldogs responded to a four-game losing streak with two home victories over Creighton and Georgetown, but they’ve dropped their last two games by a combined five points.
Bryce Golden remains a key cog in the Butler for a third straight season. The senior from Richmond, VA has scored 17 points or more in four of his last five games, and he scores while grabbing 3.7 rpg.
Aaron Thompson is one of the most experienced guards in the country. The fifth-year starter scored a season-high 25 points against Xavier, and he’s scoring 7.8 ppg, while dishing out a team-high 4.1 apg
A healthy Bryce Nze has really given Butler a boost in the middle. The fifth-year senior does everything you’d love to see from a college basketball player, and he double-doubled in win over Georgetown. Nze averaging 8.2 ppg and 5.9 rpg.
Jayden Taylor’s freshman year has brought optimism to Indianapolis. The 6’4 guard has cracked the starting lineup, and he’s scoring 8.9 ppg.
Guards Chuck Harris and Jair Bolden, last year’s leading scorers, remain in the fold, but they’ve struggled to produce since the start of Big East play.
Bo Hodges and Simas Lukosius make the team even deeper, with the latter hitting multiples threes in three of the past four games.
Creighton Bluejays
Creighton jumped out to a 8-3 start during the non-conference slate, picking up victories over BYU and in-state rival Nebraska along the way. Their great start came to a halt after suffering a 34-point loss to Villanova, and they quietly haven’t been the same since. The Bluejays were beat by 19 at Seton Hall last time out.
Creighton is built from the inside, with senior forward Ryan Hawkins leading the charge. Hawkins scored 23 points and grabbed 11 boards in the loss to UConn, and the Jays will need another big performance from him here against a rugged Butler team. Hawkins is leading the team in scoring (12.6) and rebounding (7.2)
Alex O’Connell is finally receiving ample playing time at the college level and he’s thriving. The 6’6 guard led the team in scoring during the non-conference stretch, and he’s coming off a season-high 28 points in the win over the Red Storm. He’s up to 13.3 ppg and 5.4 rpg for the season.
Ryan Nembhard has settled in well during his first season in Omaha. The 6’2 freshman orchestrates the offense, and he’s averaging a well-rounded 11.5 ppg, 3.1 rpg, and a team-leading 4.1 apg.
Ryan Kalkbrenner anchors the middle at 7’1. Big Kalk had a monster game against Marquette, going for 20 points and 12 boards, and he’s blocked four or more shots in three of the last four games. Kalkbrenner is scoring 11.4 ppg, while grabbing 7.1 rpg.
CBB Betting Trends:
- Butler is 5-5 ATS in their last ten road games.
- Creighton is 7-3 ATS in their last ten home games.
- Under is 6-2 in the Bluejays last eight home games.
Free Butler Bulldogs vs. Creighton Bluejays NCAAB Prediction: Creighton to Cover
Creighton’s recent stretch of play is alarming, and it makes them hard to trust even at home.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Butler +7.5
Butler has been the better team since the start of year, and I like spotting them the points here. They’ve covered in each of their past five games, and their 17-point win over Creighton proved they can play with this team. Beware of the revenge factor here.
Spot Butler the points here cautiously, and take the under with neither team shining right now offensively.
