The #3 seed Arkansas Razorbacks will look to avoid an upset by #15 seed Oral Roberts Eagles when the two sides face off this Saturday in a South Region Sweet Sixteen matchup from Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Arkansas has returned to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since their last appearance in 1996. The Razorbacks got here by pulling away from Colgate 85-68 and then holding on to win back and forth contest against Texas Tech 68-66.
Oral Roberts clinched their programs first Sweet Sixteen birth and they did so as a #15 seed, only the second #15 team to ever do so joining the 2013 Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. They shocked the country by beating #2 Ohio State 75-72 in OT then overcame a 5 point halftime deficit to take down #7 Florida Gators 81-78.
Arkansas is highly favored in this matchup as linemakers aren’t buying Oral Roberts’ cinderella story. The winner is set to take on the winner of either #1 Baylor or #5 Villanova, with an eye towards the Final Four.

One of the most entertaining teams in the country, Eric Musselman’s Razorbacks find themselves in a favorable matchup as they will take on just the second #15 seed to ever make a Sweet 16. A win would advance them to a Elite 8 showdown with either #1 Baylor or #5 Villanova either of which would be their highest ranked team faced this tournament.
Arkansas had to do everything they could to avoid being beaten by #6 Texas Tech last round. The game was back and forth the whole way and it came down to Kyler Edwards missing a game tying layup with seconds remaining to win 68-66. Justin Smith scored a game high 20 points with Moses Moody and Davonte Davis both dropping 15 points a piece.
Moses Moody continues to look every bit the part of an NBA lottery pick in the upcoming draft, leading the team with 17.4 ppg and averaging nearly 6 rpg from the backcourt. Forward Justin Smith is second on the team in scoring with 13.6 ppg and a team high 7.1 rpg. Smith had a monster performance in the previous game with 29 points on 9-17 shooting and 13 rebounds for a double double.

Oral Roberts and their fans couldn’t be proud of how the team has played thus far in the tournament. The expectations of a #15 seed are very low and to win a single game is impressive enough let alone two games to make the Sweet Sixteen. There have only been 9 times a #15 seed upset a #2 seed and only Florida Golf Coast and now Oral Roberts can say they made it to the final 16 teams.
Max Abmas has made a name for himself after tearing up the NCAA Tournament, averaging 27.5 points per game with 5.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds. Kevin Obanor has been playing tremendously as well averaging 29.0 PPG with 11.0 RPG to forma a dangerous duo for the Eagles.

The Eagles have been the story of the tournament and can be proud off what they’ve done already alone but I don’t see them folding in this one. I expect Abmas and Obanor to continue to get their shots to fall and keep this game in the single digits.
