The Arkansas Razorbacks find themselves favored in Gainesville against the Florida Gators although it is only by a single point with a 136 showing on the total.
The Hogs have won 11 of their last 12 games and they are tied with the Vols with a 10 – 4 record in SEC play. Arkansas just took the first of their two meetings with the Vols last time out to improve to 21 – 6 overall and they’ll finish the regular season against Tennessee looking for the season sweep of the Vols.
This will be the only meeting between these two programs this season unless they meet again in the SEC tournament. The Gators were losers of two straight road games against Kentucky and Texas A&M before returning to face the Auburn Tigers last time out. Naturally, the Tigers were going to cruise to an easy win although the line was only -4.5 giving away a little hint of what was to come next. The Gators took an outright win over Auburn, 63 – 62, and it now gives this Florida team some confidence that they have lacked most of this season.
Arkansas Razorbacks
The Hogs know that to shut down the Gators you need to slow down Tyree Appleby and Colin Castleton. That’s the only goal and it makes me think of the phrase, ‘you had one job’. Well, 2 job I suppose and the Razorbacks are going to be a little wiser than the Tigers were last time out against the Gators. Had Auburn just limited those two dudes the night would have gone a little differently so the Razorbacks will likely make the adjustment.
Keep in mind that Arkansas also took down Auburn this season so that accomplishment for the Gators really won’t make the Hogs all that impressed.
JD Notae had a bit of a rough outing in the win over Tennessee last time out as he only found 13 points to bring his season average down to 18.5 PPG. Notae fouled out with only 1 rebound and 2 turnovers to go with the 13 point effort and he really looked out of sync despite the 59- 48 result.
The Hogs have 6 players averaging over 8.5 PPG and that makes it easier to call on the bench hoping for some output from the two subs we’ll be seeing tonight. We all know that Arkansas calls on Davis and Lykes and there is your bench production for the Razorbacks. Luckily, the two of them found 15 points in the win over the Vols so when they do come in they produce.
One thing the Hogs don’t do all that well is shoot from behind the arc ranking 309th only converting 31% from distance this season. Despite that, the Hogs are putting up 77.3 PPG which ranks them 40th in the nation in scoring.
Florida Gators
To call the Gators season inspired would be an overstatement as this 7 – 7 program in the SEC really hasn’t had many bites to offer this year. Then, of course, the upset of Auburn changes everything as the Gators look for any type of momentum they can find headed towards the SEC tourney. Florida can’t get near the top-4 of the standings but a 5-seed wouldn’t be the worst scenario either.
The Gators are 15 – 3 at home this season and the Auburn win will certainly have this crowd in full-throat again as a home dog. It may only be a 1-point line and that line could certainly move come tip-off.
With Georgia and Vanderbilt on deck before the regular-season final against Kentucky, the Gators have a chance to be 4 – 0 headed to the Kentucky affair, and the line setters didn’t think the win over Auburn was enough to list them as favorites tonight. I can imagine that a lot of favorite bettors were expecting Florida to get the chalk so this line might just end up at -1 with Florida come tomorrow.
Tyree Appleby came away with 26 points in the win over Auburn and as usual, the bench provided no spark to speak of. Brandon McKissic scored 5 points and there is your wrapup of the production from the 4 players who saw time off the pine. We are all so used to bench issues around the landscape of college basketball this season and the Gators are just another victim of a weak bench.
Appleby and Colin Castleton combined for 45 of the Gators’ 63 points and I think everyone was shocked to see this team upset Auburn outright. The pair of them better go off tonight to keep Florida in this game because it is tough to trust anyone around them to get a thing done.

Free Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Florida Gators NCAAB Betting Prediction:
Even though these two benches are hella thin, at least the Arkansas subs can come in and make a bit more of a difference. To me, that is going to be the deciding factor tonight as Florida just has nothing to count on off the pine. I have 77 – 73 Arkansas!
