A clash between the top two teams in the SEC is going down Wednesday with the Alabama Crimson Tide traveling to Fayetteville to take on the Razorbacks for the second time this season.
Alabama jumped on the Arkansas defense in the first matchup and went on a 25-7 over the first 10 minutes of the game and never looked back. The Razorbacks will for sure want revenge as it was tied for the worse loss in Eric Musselman’s coaching career.
Alabama Crimson Tide
#6 Alabama has only lost one SEC game all season coming into this game. Since losing to #18 Missouri at the beginning of February, the Crimson Tide have responded with three consecutive wins, beating South Carolina, Georgia, and Vanderbilt.
Sophomore guard Jaden Shackelford leads Alabama with 14.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. He poured in 27 points in the win over Vanderbilt on Saturday. Senior guard John Petty Jr. is one of the best players in Crimson Tide history. He is averaging 13.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Petty Jr. struggled to find his shot in the Vandy game posting only six points in 28 minutes. I would expect a bounce-back performance from him as he was 5-9 from three-point range in the first matchup with the Razorbacks.
Alabama averages 80.87 points per game this season which is 23rd in the nation. They shoot 43.69% from the field and average 36.02% from behind the three-point line.
They surrender an average of 70.48 points per game which is 198th in the country but third in the SEC. Opponents are shooting 40.46% from the field when facing the Tide and 29.02% from beyond the arc.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Arkansas enters the Alabama rematch on fire. The Razorbacks have won seven conference games in a row since getting crushed down in Tuscaloosa 90-59, with the only loss coming in the Big-12/SEC challenge to Oklahoma State. Eric Musselman has done a great job with a team that was projected to finish near the bottom of the SEC after losing three starters to the NBA. Arkansas is currently second in the SEC and three-games behind Alabama for the top spot with a chance to make up some ground tonight.
Freshman guard Moses Moody is leading Arkansas with 16.2 points and 5.6 rebounds. He tacked on 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss to Alabama earlier this season. Junior guard JD Notae is scoring 12.5 points, but he is only shooting 37.5 percent from the floor.
The Razorbacks are averaging 82.45 points per game this season to lead the SEC, while they are shooting 45.03% from the floor and 33.85% from beyond the arc.
On the defensive side of the ball, Arkansas gives up an average of 70.14 points per game which is 187th in the nation but tied for first with Florida in the SEC. Opponents are shooting just 42.21% from the floor and only 33.59% from three-point range.

Free Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Arkansas Razorbacks NCAAB Prediction:
I love Arkansas in this spot to get right against the leader of the SEC. The Razorbacks got embarrassed the first time these two teams met and with extra time to prepare for this game I think coach Musselman will have his boys buzzing. The Razorbacks are 10-1 straight up against Alabama on their home floor in the last 11 meetings, so I expect Arkansas to control this game, unlike the first matchup. Justin Smith only played 18 minutes in the first game after sustaining an injury and with him 100% back to health the Razorbacks should have an answer to Alabama’s dribble-drives. Coach Musselman has a knack for covering the spread with extended time off as we see the Razorbacks have gone 7-0 ATS when they have more than 4 days of rest with Musselman at the helm. Give me the Razorbacks and the points to even the season series with the Tide at home.
