The Texas Longhorns will face their toughest challenge yet this season as the undefeated Baylor Bears come to town on Tuesday night for a clash between two top-10 teams in the country. Baylor rolled over Auburn 84-72 on Saturday to improve to 16-0 on the season, while Texas has not played a game since losing to Oklahoma on January, 26th due to some COVID issues within the other program.
Baylor Bears
Baylor continues to mow down teams in their quest of winning the NCAA tournament. They are one of three unbeaten teams remaining in CBB this year.
Offensively, the Bears are led by junior guard Jared Butler. Butler averages 16.8 points per game and is shooting 45.2% from three-point range this season. Baylor is the best three-point shooting team in the country as they cash in over 42% of their looks from behind the arc.
The Bears average 87.25 points per game which is good for 4th in the nation. They are making 50.25% of their shots from the field per contest.
While they have been impressive offensively, the Baylor defense might be even better. The Bears are one of the most effective and efficient defensive teams this season. Kenpom has them sitting at #3 behind Houston and Tennessee in terms of adjusted defensive efficiency while on the floor.
Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns will try to get their season back on track after it was derailed by a series of positive COVID tests within the program. It started with Shaka Smart having to quarantine, followed by Kai Jones and Courtney Ramey. Hopefully, we will see Texas back at full strength for this game as they will need every ounce of fight to take down the #2 team in the country.
Greg Brown has been the best player on this Texas team all season but didn’t play that well against Oklahoma as he was coming fresh off his COVID stint. Brown is averaging 11.8 points for the Longhorns and also hauling in a team-high eight rebounds per game. He is constantly active on the offensive end of the court fighting for tough rebounds and second-chance opportunities.
As a team, Texas is averaging 76.43 points per game, while shooting 45.29% from the floor. They are cashing in on 34.39% of their three-point attempts this season.
Texas is a tough team to play defensively, but that grittiness gets them into trouble at times when it comes to fouls. They are one of the worst teams in the country in average fouls per game with 21.3. The Longhorns best attribute defensively is their ability to defend the three. They allow opponents to shoot just 28.40% from the three-point range which they are going to definitely need when facing Baylor.

Free Baylor Bears vs. Texas Longhorns NCAAB Prediction:
I like Texas to be able to keep this game close and cover the number. Baylor has been rolling over teams in Big-12 play and has covered in five out of their eight games. The Bears showed that they can struggle if the team they are facing has some good guards as they did in the first half of the Auburn game before pulling away. Texas should be getting back Kai Jones and Courtney Ramey for this game after they missed the last two contests with contact tracing. The Longhorns have not covered in three games in a row, but have not had their full roster since the Texas Tech game where they lost on a buzzer-beater. Shaka Smart should also be back on the sidelines after testing positive for COVID himself almost 14 days ago.
