On Thursday, December 22nd, Washington Wizards and Utah Jazz will meet for the second and final time this season. Washington won the initial meeting 121-112 on November 12th.
Both teams last played Tuesday with the Wizards defeating the reeling Suns 113-110 while the Jazz pummeled the Pistons 126-111.
Last season, the teams played twice each winning on the opponent’s court. The Jazz hold the all-time record having bested the Wizards in 59 of their 111 matches

Washington Wizards
Through their initial 17 games, Washington was 10-7 and I warned to be cautious of that record being Fool’s Gold.
Sure enough, they regressed to their typical form and lost 13 of the next 14 matches finally ending a 10-game losing streak versus the Suns who are dealing with their own adversity.
They sit 12th in the East needing to make major decisions on their future direction on whether that includes reformulating the roster to get better or breaking down the core and starting from scratch.
The issue for the Wizards is Bradley Beal is their most tradable asset but he negotiated a ‘no trade clause’ which gives him all the power. It means he can veto being traded or request/agree to be dealt only to locations he approves of.
Offensively, the Wizards score 110.7 points per game which ranked 24th overall. Washington shoots 47.3% from the field and 34.7% from the perimeter ranking 14th and 18th respectively.
Defensively, the Wizards have regressed seemingly on a game-by-game basis. They allow opponents to score 113.6 per game ranked 16th overall.
As for opponent efficiency, the Wizards allow foes to shoot 46.5% from the field ranking 10th, and 37.5% from the perimeter ranking 28th.
Rui Hachimura (ankle) is probable, while Kristaps Porzingis (illness) is questionable for Thursday. Delon Wright (hamstring) is out indefinitely.
Utah Jazz
With every twist and turn of the Jazz this season they’ve kept us guessing. The presumption was they would automatically be a tanking team but they erased those perceptions via a blistering 10-3 start.
Through the next 11 games, they lost eight, and again pundits thought they would transition into tanking. Instead, their next 12 games (6-6) likely showcased where they naturally should reside – in the middle.
And, they still took pride in reminding opponents of their skills, such as demoralizing the high-flying Pelicans by sweeping a baseball set mere days after New Orleans had just landed atop the West after sweeping the Suns, also in a baseball set.
Utah averages 116.9 points per game (4th) while shooting 47.4% from the field (12th) and 37.0% from deep (8th). Jazz opponents score 116.0 points (24th) shooting 47.9% from the field (23rd) and 34.8% from deep (10th).
Collin Sexton (hamstring) is questionable while Kelly Olynyk (ankle) is out. Johnny Juzang is on G-League assignment.
