The success of this squad is not all that surprising. Before the year started, a lot of people were very high on them. When all said and done, I feel like these guys can go very far.
Obviously, the Western Conference is very competitive, but I think this crew could hang with any of them. I do not feel they would be able to knock off someone like the Warriors in the playoffs, but I would take them against anyone else.
Utah beat the Dallas Mavericks on Christmas day by a score of 120-116. Even though they were short-handed, that was a good win for them over a solid Dallas squad.
In the win over Utah, Donovan Mitchell was the leading scorer with 33 points and 3 rebounds. Once again, this man is having a great season and he will only get better as the year goes on. Getting to see him play is an absolute treat.
San Antonio Spurs
Overall, the Spurs have not played all that well. They have looked good at times, but consistency has been an issue for them.
San Antonio comes into this game with a record of 14-18, which puts them in 10th place in the Western Conference. It is going to be hard for them to jump ahead all that far.
Don’t get me wrong, this team has some nice players, but they do not have the talent to compete with the top teams. When you do not have the talent in the NBA, it is very hard to win at a high level.
San Antonio crushed the Detroit Pistons on Sunday by a score of 144-109. They did just what they had to do against the worst team in basketball.
Keldon Johnson was the leading scorer for them on Sunday with 27 points and 5 rebounds. Overall, it was a good team performance on the offensive side of the ball against Detroit.
