Friday, December 30th, the Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings meet for the first of four scheduled meetings. Utah will host on January 3rd and March 20th while Sacramento will host the final match between the clubs on March 25th.
Both teams last played Wednesday with the Jazz losing 107-112 to the Warriors while the Kings completed a baseball back-to-back set versus the Nuggets splitting the set taking the second game 127-126.
The Jazz holds the all-time record between the clubs with 117 wins in 201 meetings. Last season, the teams played four times with Utah sweeping the regular season series.
*Editor’s Note: Statistics and rankings are current as of this writing, Thursday evening, December 29th. Numbers may vary slightly entering games on Friday, December 30th.
Utah Jazz
Leading up to the trade deadline these are two of the teams many eyes will be on for drastically different reasons. Both have two of the easier schedules between now and then with Utah playing 19 games but only six on the road.
The Kings play 21 matches but only seven of those contests are against teams with .500 or better records.
Utah averages 116.9 points per game (4th) while shooting 47.20% from the field (14th) and 36.8% from deep (9th). Jazz opponents score 116.1 points (23rd) shooting 48.2% from the field (25th) and 34.8% from deep (7th).
Kelly Olynyk (ankle) is questionable for Wednesday. Micah Potter and Johnny Juzang are on G League assignment
Sacramento Kings
Domantas Sabonis didn’t play in the first game of the baseball set but was back for the second and made a difference. Sabonis suffered an avulsion fracture of the ulnar collateral ligament of the right thumb.
Despite the injury, he produced an impressive double-double of 31 points, 10 rebounds plus five assists, a steal, and a block De’Aaron Fox also collected a double-double of 31 points and 13 rebounds.
But it was Malik Monk who was the first star of the game scoring 33 points and making some critical clutch time shots.
Offensively, the Kings are among the very best in the association with the second-highest scoring output averaging 118.0 points per game. Similarly, they perform well in the proficiency areas registering 48.8% from the field and 35.6% from deep ranking fourth and 15th.
Sacramento ranks 24th in opponent scoring allowing 116.4 points per game while foes shoot 48.7% from the field and 36.8% from the perimeter ranking 28th and 25th respectively.
Sabonis (thumb) didn’t play Tuesday and is questionable for Wednesday.

Free Utah Jazz vs. Sacramento Kings NBA Prediction:
The win versus the Nuggets on Wednesday was one of the gutsiest performances of the season for Sacramento between Domo playing through the thumb injury and not giving up when being down double-digits.
This team could make a real run in this pre trade deadline stint so don’t be surprised if they move into a home-court seed position before February 9th.
Conversely, I can’t imagine Danny Ainge revamped his entire core with the goal of being a middling team and while he added draft picks he can’t control where those teams will be seeded.
What he can control is who plays for Utah. Watch for Jordan Clarkson, Mike Conley, Rudy Gay, and Kelly Olynyk all to be whispered in rumors as Ainge ramps up his efforts to add more draft picks (or young assets).
