Toronto Raptors
After an 0–3 start, Toronto got a win before the year ended with a 100–83 win over the Knicks.
Fred VanVleet led all scorers with 25 points and Kyle Lowry was right behind him with 20. Norman Powell chipped in 17 in the starting five.
Head Coach Nick Nurse benched Pascal Siakam for the entire game against the Knicks because he went straight to the locker room after fouling out in the previous game. He will be back for this one.
None of Toronto’s first three losses of this season were particularly terrible but the first one did come against New Orleans and it was the Raptors’ biggest defeat, to date.
New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans won that game by 14 points, despite turning the ball over 24 times.
They did shoot a spectacular percentage, however. JJ Redick poured in six three-pointers, which wasn’t terribly surprising. What was, however, was Lonzo Ball and Eric Bledsoe — two guards who are not known for their outside shooting — making four each.
But Bledsoe and Ball each made two more treys in New Orleans’ most recent victory, a 113–80 blowout of the Thunder on New Year’s Eve.
Ball flirted with a triple-double but came up two rebounds and an assist shy. He’s averaging over a dozen points with five rebounds and assists per game so far this season, despite sharing backcourt responsibilities with Bledsoe.

Free Toronto Raptors vs. New Orleans Pelicans NBA Prediction:
The backcourt will be the key in this one. If Bledsoe and Ball can matchup well with Lowry and VanVleet, the Pelicans are well suited to win up front.
But given Siakam’s return and the first go-around going New Orleans’ way, I wouldn’t bet on a Pelicans victory.
To me, it’s a coin flip. If either team is getting more than three points, I’d play them. Otherwise, it’s a game to avoid, on the sides at least.
