Raptors vs. Cavaliers Gameday
Sunday serves up the final game of the first round as the Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers tip off in a winner-take-all Game 7.
The Basketball Gods were apparently on hand Friday as the Raptors won 112-110 in overtime on an RJ Barrett wild shot off the same rim that Kawhi Leonard became known for.
Four Raptors scored in double figures, led by Scottie Barnes, who served up a ridiculous stat line of 25 points, 14 assists, seven rebounds, and SIX stocks while RJ Barrett and JaKobe Walter each chipped in 24 points.
Five Cavaliers scored in double figures, led by Evan Mobley with 26 points and 14 rebounds. Donovan Mitchell added 24 points, but appears to be playing injured. James Harden struggled again with four turnovers but scored 16 points and flirted with a triple-double with nine rebounds and nine assists.

Toronto Raptors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Odds & Last 5
Head-to-head this season, the Raptors swept the Cavaliers 3-0, but learned quickly in Game 1 that the Cavs are a very different team with James Harden in the lineup.
The clubs have a playoff history, having faced each other three times in prior seasons, with the Cavaliers dominating with two sweeps and a 4-2 series win. They last played in the 2018 season when LeBron James and Co. took them out, and LBJ famously gave praise to the Scotiabank crowd after the series win.
Coming into the playoffs, the Raptors were 3-2 through their last five matches, while the Cavs arrived on a hot streak, having won five of their last six contests.
Cleveland is favored by 8.5 points while the over/under is 211.5 points.
Raptors Stats
Toronto ranks tied for 14th offensively (115.0) and fifth defensively (112.1) while holding the 11th-best net rating (+2.9) and ranks 21st in pace (99.22).
The East’s fifth seed averages 114.6 points per game while its opponents average 111.8 points. In terms of dimes and boards, Toronto averages 29.5 (third) and 42.1 (24th), respectively.
Toronto’s team leaders are Brandon Ingram for scoring (21.5 points), Immanuel Quickley for assists (5.9), Scottie Barnes for rebounds (7.5), steals (1.4), and blocks (1.5).
As for the perimeter, Toronto shoots 35.4% from deep, while six* players shoot above the league average.

Cavaliers Stats
Cleveland ranks sixth (118.3) on offense and 15th on defense (114.1). Additionally, the Cavs rank ninth in net rating (+4.1) and run the 13th quickest pace (100.70).
The East’s fourth-place Cavaliers average 28.5 assists (seventh) and 44.4 rebounds (11th). Cleveland scores 119.5 points per game while their opponents average 115.4 points.
Team leaders* for the Cavs are Donovan Mitchell for points (27.9) and steals (1.5), James Harden for assists (7.7), while Evan Mobley is tops for rebounds (9.0) and blocks (1.7).
As a team, the Cavaliers shoot 36.0% from the perimeter with six players shooting above the league average.

Toronto Raptors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers bottom line:
Through six games, these teams are much more even than anyone predicted pre-series. To wit, the teams have each scored 669 points and shot 47% from the field.
Toronto has the slight 3-point efficiency edge (37% to 35%) and a 1% difference at the charity stripe (73% to 72%), while Cleveland has the edge on the glass (253 total rebounds to 249)
Considering the Raptors haven’t had their starting point guard and are missing their top scorer (who was struggling early in the series), these stats are shocking. It speaks to the grittiness and no quit of the Dinos and the lack of the same for the Cavs, who are the most expensive roster in the playoffs.
Suffice to say, a win by the Raptors is gravy while a loss by the Cavaliers would be disastrous.

Raptors Cavaliers Free Pick: Raptors +9
Here is my Raptors Cavaliers free pick.
Game 7’s typically come down to the superstars and that makes for a very intriguing situation in this series, specifically where Scottie Barnes has been the best player (by far) on both sides.
At times, Mitchell and Harden have struggled, coughing up the ball repeatedly, and Mitchell appears to have an injury that is hampering his mobility.
Mobley broke out of his shell in Game 6 and had the ball in his hands for the last shot on Friday, but failed to connect. There is always debate over Barnes and Mobley, with the former winning Rookie of the Year and besting the latter in this series.
The key for the Raptors is holding opponents under 120 points. When they do they win and when they don’t they lose.
All the games have been won on home courts in the series, which favors the Cavaliers. However, with the Raptors already overachieving, they could have a bigger advantage… GRIT!
Certainly, if the Raps jump on the Cavs early, you have to figure they’ll get tight as Mitchell and Harden have demons in their closets from earlier playoff meltdowns.
Either way, I’m taking the gritty, won’t quit Raptors and the points.
