Saturday, February 6 the Toronto Raptors take on the Atlanta Hawks in the clubs’ first meeting of the season. Since the squads played so early last season it’s been almost a full year since they last lined up to face one another.
The Raptors have a current 10-game win streak versus the Hawks going back to November 25th of 2017.
The Raptors hold the all-time record between the squads with 47 victories in 92 meetings. Last season these clubs played three times with Toronto sweeping.
Toronto Raptors
With blood running down his face Kyle Lowry ran upcourt and took the ball hard to the paint, got fouled, and again didn’t get the call.
He glared at the same female ref who tossed him with 4.0 seconds left in the loss to the Kings where that call essentially ended the Raptors’ shot of the comeback.
For NBA fans familiar with Lowry’s bulldog demeanor that moment signaled the end for the Nets. He finished with 30 points, five rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and hit three 3-pointers.
Pascal Siakam registered a double-double of 31 points and 11 rebounds, plus six assists, three steals, and a block.
Norman Powell who also got bloodied with no call scored 18. Fred VanVleet followed up his 54 point effort with a quiet 11 shooting 1 of 9 from deep but the one make was timely as it put the game out of reach for Brooklyn.
Chris Boucher offered 17 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks including one on a 3-point shot.
An unfriendly whistle led to 14 free throws (only two in the fourth on a purposeful foul) to 29 for Brooklyn. Undeterred, the Raptors reminded everyone they shouldn’t be overlooked and sent a strong message to Brooklyn’s opponents’ defense always trump offense.
OG Anunoby (calf) remains out.
Atlanta Hawks
Without Trae Young available the Hawks struggled to find their offense versus the Jazz on Thursday scoring under 100 points (91) in the loss.
It was their fourth loss in five games including the Nets, Lakers, Mavericks with the lone win against the Wizards.
John Collins led the scoring effort for the Hawks with 17 points. Kevin Huerter added 16 points.
Tony Snell scored 12 points as the only other double-figure scorers. Clint Capela grabbed 17 rebounds marking the 18th consecutive game he’s collected double-digit rebounds.
The Hawks were held to 32.7 percent from the field and 29.0 percent from the perimeter. The Jazz outscored the Hawks 54 to 36 in the paint and despite Capella’s effort were outrebounded 62 to 54.
Trae Young (calf), Kevin Huerter (ankle), and Onyeka Okongwu (Achilles) are all game-time decisions.
De’Andre Hunter suffered an articular tear in his right knee in the first half of the Wizards game that will keep him off the court until mid-February.
Bogdan Bogdanovic (knee) and Kris Dunn (ankle) are expected out until Early March and mid-February respectively.
NBA Betting Trends:

- Over/Under is 4-6 in the teams last 10 head to head meetings
Free Toronto Raptors vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Prediction:
Toronto moves onto the playoff ladder and with both the Hawks and Raptors sporting the same 10-12 record whoever wins today will take the higher rung.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Raptors ATS
Although the Hawks have the rest advantage the Raptors typically play well in back-to-back sets and are on a three-game win streak looking to continue their ascent up the ladder.
With the uncertainty of copious Hawks being available I like the Raptors to keep the streak alive and if Young doesn’t play lower the Hawks’ score by seven to ten points.
