Free San Antonio Spurs vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
Sunday, January 12th finds the San Antonio Spurs facing the Toronto Raptors for the first time this season.
Last season, the teams played twice splitting the contests. The Spurs hold the all-time record having bested the Raptors in 33 of their 46 matches
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs beat elite Eastern teams (Bucks, Celtics) this week prior to the loss in Memphis. San Antonio will finish their road trip against the other two top East seeds starting in Toronto and finishing in Miami.

With so many Raptors out injured and for as well as the Spurs are playing this will be a great opportunity for them to keep the Eastern onslaught up.
In the 134-121 loss to the Grizzlies the Spurs only won one quarter and by virtue of the loss fell behind the Grizzlies who overtook them for the eighth seed in the West. In his post-game interview, coach Gregg Popovich said: “three or four guys were no shows”.
DeMar DeRozan wasn’t in that mix as he matched his season-high of 36 points and almost collected a triple-double with nine assists and nine rebounds.
LaMarcus Aldridge and Bryn Forbes scored 21 and were hot from deep connecting on nine of their 17 perimeter shots. Rudy Gay scored 13 points as the only other double-figure contributor.
On the season, DeMar DeRozan is the team leader in scoring (22.4) assists (5.0) and field goal percentage (53.4%) while Dejounte Murray is the steals leader (1.7). LaMarcus Aldridge tops the team leaderboard for rebounding (7.7) and blocks (1.9).
The Spurs have no player injuries.
Toronto Raptors
Just as the Raptors got back Matt Thomas they lost Fred VanVleet to injury who joins Pascal Siakam, Marc Gasol and Norman Powell. That equates to 64.1 points per game on the shelf.
Toronto lost in clutch time based on a non-whistle via an uncalled Hassan Whiteside’s illegal screen allowing Damian Lillard to nail an open 3-pointer tying the game and resulting in a win for a game Portland led for 17 seconds.
Toronto followed this up with an overtime win the very next night in Charlotte despite their fatigue and injury-depleted roster. Fortunately, the club got three full days rest and more importantly should welcome Norman Powell back Sunday.
In the victory over Charlotte, Serge Ibaka and undrafted rookie Terence Davis had identical 23 point, 11 rebound double-doubles. OG Anunoby (19), Kyle Lowry (15), and Patrick McCaw (13) were the other double-figure contributors.
Team leaders feature Pascal Siakam (25.1 points), Kyle Lowry (7.6 assists) and Fred VanVleet (1.9 steals). OG Anunoby leads in rebounding (5.9) and field goal percentage (49.6%) while Chris Boucher leads blocks (0.9).
Marc Gasol (hamstring) and Pascal Siakam (groin) have both missed 11 games with a mid-month and end month expected return date. Fred VanVleet (hamstring) missed the last two games and has no definitive return date.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Spurs are 6-4 ATS in their last 10
- The Spurs are 7-3 in last 10 head to head
- Over Under is 6-4 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups
Free San Antonio Spurs vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
.DeRozan will be amped for a big game against his former club. Yet, the Raptors will be equally motivated to net the victory especially since the Celtics lost three games in a row prior to their Saturday match.
With Toronto’s injured players close to a return every game has importance in the tightly contested two through six seeds in the East.
