San Antonio Spurs vs. OKC Thunder Odds & Last 5
Last year, the Thunder won the season series two games to one over the Spurs. In this campaign, the squads were scheduled to play four times, but because of the NBA Cup, they played five times in total, with the Spurs thumping them four games to one.
San Antonio has three losses through two series, having beaten the Portland Trail Blazers 4-1 and the Minnesota Timberwolves 4-2.
Meanwhile, OKC has yet to lose this postseason, sweeping both the Phoenix Suns and the LA Lakers. With the Thunder finishing with a record of 64-18, they hold home court throughout the playoffs.
And, since the Spurs finished 62-20, they hold the second-best record and therefore whichever team wins this series will have home court advantage in the NBA Finals.
OKC is favored by 6.5 points with an over/under of 219.5 points.

San Antonio Spurs vs. OKC Thunder bottom line:
Although the Thunder have sailed through their initial two series they’ll finally be tested. Moreover, the team that seemed to own them this season is the one lining up across from them.
Both squads have a bevvy of guards that will face each other, but the key to the series could come down to how well Chet Holmgren defends Victor Wembanyama.
Jalen Williams missed the semi-finals due to a sore hamstring and is listed as a game-time decision for Game 1.

Spurs Thunder Free Pick: Spurs +6.5
Here is my Spurs Thunder free pick. This should be an exciting series, assuming the Thunder have learned lessons from their losses to the Spurs this season.
OKC needs JDub back to add to their robust defense, and the Thunder will need to stop the Spurs guards from driving the lanes to fetch easy buckets as they did in the regular season.
San Antonio possesses the top-ranked defense this postseason of 102.2 and the third-best offense of 117.3 with a differential of 15.2, which ranks third.
In contrast, the Thunder possess the top-ranked postseason offense (126.3), sixth-ranked defense (109.3), and are second in net rating (17.0).
This series has the potential to be even more entertaining and competitive than the ultimate NBA Final. To wit, the team that wins the Western Conference Finals will likely be favored to win the Larry O’B trophy.
Although it’s just Game 1, the winner will set the bar for the rest of the series, and it feels like the Thunder need to take this contest or the narrative will grow that they can’t beat the Spurs.
Additionally, the Thunder enter this match with a full week’s rest while the Spurs last played on Friday. That means there could be some rust in the early going for the Thunder, and therefore could be a disadvantage, at least to start the match.
That said, I do expect OKC to take Game 1, but I anticipate it will be closer than the spread, so take the points and the Spurs.
