Spurs vs. Wolves Gameday
With the Conference semi-finals in full swing, the teams switch venues for the first time as the San Antonio Spurs travel to face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
San Antonio fought back in Game 2 to even up the series in a match where the Wolves never showed up. The Spurs walloped them for being lackadaisical, winning 133-95.
Seven Spurs scored in double figures, led by Stephon Castle with 21 points, while Victor Wembanyama registered a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds with two blocks.
Five Wolves scored in double figures, with four of them (Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels, Terrence Shannon Jr., and Anthony Edwards) collecting 12 points.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Odds & Last 5
This season, it was the Wolves who prevailed to take a 2-1 regular-season series win versus San Antonio and are 5-2 over the last two seasons.
As for their playoff history, the teams have met on two prior occasions, with the Spurs winning both series. That said, the last time these clubs played was in 2001, so under very different versions of the teams.
Coming into the playoffs, the Wolves dealt with copious injuries to their core, specifically missing Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels. Minny went 3-2 in the final five games and was middling, going 5-5 through the last 10 matches.
San Antonio finished the season on a 14-2 run, looking primed for the postseason, and overcame an injury to their superstar Victor Wembanyama in the first round to sail through to the semis.
The Spurs are 3.5 favorites to win with an over/under of 216.5 points.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Minnesota Timberwolves bottom line:
Although the Spurs responded the way they should after losing Game 1, don’t read too much into the margin of victory.
Despite Anthony Edwards’ warning to his club, they played like a team that got what they came to Texas for… a split.
This match may provide a more detailed view of what this series will look like, and I suspect it’ll set the standard for what looks like will be a long series.

Spurs Wolves Free Pick: Wolves +3.5
Here is my Spurs Wolves free pick.
A sign of how checked out the Wolves were in Game 2 was their 52% accuracy from the free-throw line and 22 turnovers.
Coach Chris Finch said the Spurs punked them, and with him telling his team that fact, you would expect Minny to come out with much more focus in Game 3 in front of the rabid Wolves fanbase.
Per John Schuhmann: Wembanyama averaged 34 points in less than 29 minutes in his two games against the Wolves. He was defended more by Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels than by Rudy Gobert. Yet only 32% of Wembanyama’s shots came in the paint, his lowest rate against any opponent. He did go 21-for-24 at the free-throw line and the Wolves had the highest opponent free-throw rate in the first around, so he should be prepared to get hit often over the next two weeks.
While the Spurs will be feeling their oats, having won on Wednesday, I like the Wolves to set their eye on the bigger prize, knowing this game has a major impact on the series, so take the points, and I also like Minny to win.
