In the first six minutes of Game 5, Victor Wembanyama was on his apology tour, scoring and defending like a man possessed. He finished the game with a double-double of 27 points and 17 rebounds, plus five assists and three blocks.

If Minny is going to stay alive, they need Julius Randle to show up in Game 6. He’s looked like a shell of the player who dominated at times in the first round versus Denver.
Edwards is playing on two sore knees and doing what he can, but he looked gassed in Game 5 at times. AntMan needs his Robin to make an appearance in the series, or count on an ‘other’ to be a difference maker.
Per John Schuhmann: Wembanyama averaged 34 points in less than 29 minutes in his two games against the Wolves. He was defended more by Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels than by Rudy Gobert. Yet only 32% of Wembanyama’s shots came in the paint, his lowest rate against any opponent. He did go 21-for-24 at the free-throw line and the Wolves had the highest opponent free-throw rate in the first around, so he should be prepared to get hit often over the next two weeks.
This has been an extremely physical series, and it’s not likely to get any tamer in Game 6 with the stakes so high. Wembanyama was a difference maker in Game 5, seemingly scaring off the Wolves from driving the paint. Minny will need to solve that riddle if they are to extend the series.
While it won’t surprise me if the Spurs win, I’ve just seen Edwards and his crew step up in these situations before, so I’ll roll with the Wolves and take the points.
