Spurs vs. Wolves Gameday
Of all the Conference Semi-Finals, the San Antonio and Minnesota Timberwolves have been the most entertaining and competitive. Game 3 went to the Spurs by a score of 115-108.
Five Spurs scored in double figures, but it was the standout performance of Victor Wembanyama that won the night. Wemby delivered a double-double of 39 points and 15 rebounds with five blocks, an assist, and a steal.
Six Wolves registered double digits, led by Anthony Edwards with 32 points and 14 rebounds, plus six assists and a block. Considering he’s playing on two bad knees, his output and the fact that he played 41 minutes are beyond impressive.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Minnesota Timberwolves Odds & Last 5
This season, it was the Wolves who prevailed to take a 2-1 regular-season series win versus San Antonio and are 5-2 over the last two seasons.
As for their playoff history, the teams have met on two prior occasions, with the Spurs winning both series. That said, the last time these clubs played was in 2001, so under very different versions of the teams.
Coming into the playoffs, the Wolves dealt with copious injuries to their core, specifically missing Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels. Minny went 3-2 in the final five games and was middling, going 5-5 through the last 10 matches.
San Antonio finished the season on a 14-2 run, looking primed for the postseason, and overcame an injury to their superstar Victor Wembanyama in the first round to sail through to the semis.
The Spurs are 4.5 favorites to win with an over/under of 218.5 points.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Minnesota Timberwolves bottom line:
Game 3 could’ve gone either way, but AntMan didn’t have the same level of support as Wemby got, and that was the difference in the outcome.
For the Wolves to even up the series, they’ll need to cut down on the fouls (they lost that battle 33 to 21 attempts) and be better at defending the paint and transition scoring. San Antonio won the latter two categories 46 to 38 and 13 to 7.

Spurs Wolves Free Pick: Wolves +4.5
Here is my Spurs Wolves free pick.
Minny showed up in Game 3 having taken that match more seriously than they did Game 2. They can’t afford to be so lackadaisical again because the Spurs have the depth advantage and now the lead in the series.
Edwards has done everything to collect the win, but will need more help. That help needs to come from the starting unit because the Wolves’ bench outscored the Spurs 34 to 21.
Per John Schuhmann: Wembanyama averaged 34 points in less than 29 minutes in his two games against the Wolves. He was defended more by Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels than by Rudy Gobert. Yet only 32% of Wembanyama’s shots came in the paint, his lowest rate against any opponent. He did go 21-for-24 at the free-throw line and the Wolves had the highest opponent free-throw rate in the first around, so he should be prepared to get hit often over the next two weeks.
This has been an extremely physical series, and it’s not likely to get any tamer as it progresses. Look for the Wolves to come out dialed in, and don’t be surprised if Edwards has a knockout performance.
I’m rolling with Minny evening things up, so take the points and the Wolves for the win.
