On Monday, January 9th, the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies playing the second of four scheduled matches. Memphis won the November 9th overtime contest 124-122 and is hosting this baseball set with the second game scheduled for Wednesday.
San Antonio will host the final match between the teams on March 17th.
The Spurs last played Saturday pushing the Celtics to clutch time prior to succumbing 116-121 while the Grizzlies are playing a back-to-back set featuring the Jazz on the front side in a match they won 123-118 on Sunday.

Defense
The defensive side of the floor remains the Spurs’ Achilles heel as they fight the Pistons for the worst mark in the association. They still have the edge, however, ranking dead last in all three categories.

The Dog Days of winter and injuries are taking a toll on teams who trail the Grizzlies who are more than happy to put some distance between themselves and specifically the Pelicans, Mavericks, Kings, and Clippers.
In particular, Sacramento has a very easy stretch upcoming so this padding is possibly more important than overtaking the Nuggets who they are now tied with after their win on Sunday.

Offensively, the Grizzlies score 116.1 points per game ranking ninth overall. Memphis shoot 46.9% from the field ranking 18th, and 34.1% from the perimeter ranking 25th.
The Grizzlies continue to shine on and improve on the defensive side of the court. They possess the best opponent field goal percentage limiting clubs to 44.3%. They 11th both for opponent scoring 111.1 points and opponent perimeter percentage 35.5%.
Neither Ja Morant (thigh) or Steven Adams (illness) played on Sunday and they’ll likely be questionable again. Brandon Clarke (hip) was downgraded to out and Danny Green (knee) was marked out although he continues to progress through his ACL rehab with the goal of returning sometime in the second half.
Additionally, Kennedy Chandler, Jake LaRavia, Kenneth Lofton Jr., and Vince Williams Jr., are all on assignment with the G League
