On Wednesday, January 27th, Inter-Conference opponents will meet as the Sacramento Kings and Orlando Magic will face off for the first time in the shortened 2020-2021 regular season.
Sacramento Kings
Sacramento has not played good basketball as they continue to try to break through to prominence. They sit in the 13th spot in the Western Conference at 6-10 and have been streaky all season. They began the year at 4-4 which included starting 3-1 then going 1-3 and have quickly fell off going 2-6 in their last 8. They were able to avoid a 5th straight loss on 1/22 to the New York Knicks as they prevailed the defensive battle with a 103-94 victory.
The Kings are led again by bright franchise star De’Aaron Fox who leads the way with 20.8 ppg, 5.9 apg, and 1.5 spg. (All Kings bests) He is followed in production by veteran Harrison Barnes and shooter Buddy Hield.
There continues to be tension surrounding the team as former #2 overall pick Marvin Bagley continues to hear trade rumors regarding his future with the team started by his own father who has been vocal about getting his son to a different team via twitter. Recently PG De’Aaron Fox’s dad felt the need to step in as well agreeing with the sentiment that Marvin needs to go. The bitterness off the court has not helped the chemistry on the court as the Kings continue to stack up losses and tumble down the standings.

Orlando Magic
Orlando had dropped two straight and eight of their previous nine before picking up the home win over Charlotte Monday night to get back in the win column. In the Eastern Conference playoff picture, they are tied with the Knicks for the final playoff spot.
The Magic is 28th in the league in scoring offense with 105.5 points per game so far this season. The Magic is 12th in the league in scoring defense as they allow 110.1 points per contest. Nikola Vucevic (team-high 23.5 points, 11.1 rebounds) and Evan Fournier (18.2 points, 3.7 assists), Aaron Gordon (14.8 points, 7.5 boards) and Cole Anthony (11 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists) are solid contributors offensively. Markelle Fultz has been done for the year since January 6 when he suffered a torn ACL.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Kings are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record
- Kings are 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 Wednesday games
- Sacramento is 5-10 ATS on the year
- Sacramento OVERS are 10-5
Free Sacramento Kings vs Orlando Magic NBA Prediction:
Sacramento has continued to struggle losing 9 of their last 12 games and allowed an average of 128.3 points during their four-game skid which was worst in the NBA before being broken with a 103-94 win on Friday Night. This will be the Kings first game since last Friday due to cancelled games with the Grizzlies as they faced COVID amongst their team. Meanwhile the Magic will have played 4 in the same stretch.
The Magic are an awful team offensively as they struggle to shoot the ball and have little rhythm to their game. Luckily for them they are going up against a Sacramento team that is second-worst in the league in scoring defense and dead last in field goal percentage defense as opposing teams are shooting 49.4 percent from the floor. This may not be a pretty game but I’ll side with Orlando on their home court.
