Thursday, February 4th the Philadelphia 76ers will play host to the Portland Trail Blazers in their first meeting of the 2020-21 season.
Last season, the squads played twice with each taking one match. The 76ers hold the all-time record between the squads with 59 victories in the team’s 115 meetings.
Portland Trail Blazers
The Blazers arrive in Philly to play their fifth of a six-game road trip having split wins (Bulls, Wizards) and losses (Rockets, Bucks) so far.
A more accurate description would be the Blazers are limping into Philly.
As if the Blazers weren’t already dealing with enough injuries, Damian Lillard is dealing with an abdominal injury that he’s been playing through and may keep him out for this match.
He had a tough time early in Washington but gritted it out to finish with 32 points and eight assists. Enes Kanter delivered a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds.
After a slow start to the season, Gary Trent Jr. has found his stroke as he registered 26 points including seven triples. Robert Covington scored a season-high 19 points and added nine rebounds.
Carmelo Anthony (21) and Rodney Hood (15) were the other double-figure contributors.
Anfernee Simons reaggravated a hamstring injury and Nassir Little (knee) are both day-to-day. Derrick Jones Jr. (foot sprain) is out. Cj McCollum fractured his foot and will be out until the end of February.
Jusuf Nurkic (wrist) out until March. Zach Collins (medial malleolus stress fracture to his ankle) remains out with no timetable for return.
Philadelphia 76ers
Joel Embiid was back in the lineup to throw down a double-double of 34 points and 11 rebounds as the 76ers extended their win streak to four games.
Tobias Harris continued his hot streak scoring 26 points while Ben Simmons offered up his typical full stat line of 15 points, six rebounds, nine assists, a steal, and a block.
Danny Green added oints and Shake Milton chipped in 13 points.
The 76ers have owned the Hornets with this win extending their streak against Charlotte to 14. The game was essentially over in the first quarter as Philly held the Hornets to 13 points while scoring 30 and led 64-42 by the half.
Mike Scott (knee) is out until February and Terrance Ferguson is out indefinitely dealing with the league’s health and safety protocols.

Free Portland Trail Blazers vs. Philadelphia 76ers NBA Prediction:
Through a quarter season, the 76ers are getting stronger on both sides of the court and still have room to grow.
As for the Blazers, I’m hard-pressed to find a club that gets hit with as many injuries seemingly every season as Portland.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: 76ers ATS
Portland has the rest advantage and I considered taking them plus the points but the uncertainty about Lillard’s availability gave me pause.
