Tuesday, December 17th finds the Phoenix Suns tipping off against the Los Angeles Clippers. This is the second meeting between the teams this season. The Phoenix Suns shocked the Clippers in the first meeting winning 130-122.
Last season, the squads played four times with the Clippers sweeping the series. The Suns hold the all-time record having bested the Clippers in 131 of their 221 matches.

The Suns became another victim of the San Antonio Spurs as the latter played their fourth consecutive overtime game. The game occurred in Mexico City. Phoenix will arrive in LA on the backside of a back to back set having faced the Trail Blazers on Monday.

In the loss to the Spurs, Dario Saric and Ricky Rubio both registered double-doubles. Saric’s consisted of 19 points and 17 rebounds while Rubio’s featured 25 points and 13 assists.
Frank Kaminsky (22), Kelly Oubre Jr. (17) and Aron Baynes (13) were the other trio of Suns who delivered double-figure efforts.
The players who lead the team in stat categories are Devin Booker with 25.0 points and 50.7% field goal percentage. Ricky Rubio with 9.4 assists and Dario Saric with 7.6 rebounds. Hustle categories are led by Mikal Bridges who grabs 1.4 steals while Kelly Oubre Jr. blocks 0.8 shots per game.
Deandre Ayton has completed his 25 game suspension and was expected to return Monday versus the Trail Blazers but as of this posting the Suns are into the third quarter of play but Ayton doesn’t appear to be playing. Whether he’ll dress for the match Tuesday is unknown.
Dario Saric is experiencing lower back soreness while Cameron Johnson has been nursing a hip injury both were playing Monday versus the Blazers and subsequently should be good to play Tuesday as well.
Devin Booker missed the last game with a right forearm contusion was not in the lineup Monday and his participation Tuesday is questionable.
Los Angeles Clippers
Other than the beat down the Clippers experienced at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks for the most part they’ve won games against the elite. The issue has been when LA loses focus against teams on the lower tier as they did in the loss to the Bulls.
The Clippers opened and closed their six-game road trip with losses and went 4-2 overall.

Granted Kawhi Leonard was rested in the Bulls match but that’s the reason the Clippers gave away so much of their future to nab Paul George. Unfortunately, George hasn’t demonstrated the ability to lead the Clippers without Leonard in the lineup.
In the loss, Montrezl Harrell led the way scoring 30 points while George registered 27 points. Landry Shamet returned to score 11 points and Patrick Patterson also scored 11 points.
Kawhi Leonard leads the Clippers in scoring with 25.8 points while Lou Williams is the top assist man with 6.2 dimes and Patrick Beverley is the team leader for steals with 1.5 robberies per game.
Montrezl Harrell leads three team categories including rebounding (7.6), field goal percent (57.6%) and blocks (1.2).
Three players are listed as questionable including Lou Williams who has missed the last two games with a sore right calf, Patrick Beverley also missed two games with a concussion and JaMychal Green who missed the last four games with a sore tailbone.
