Saturday, January 9th finds the Phoenix Suns and Indiana Pacers playing their first game of the 2020-21 season. Both teams are among the squads who’ve come out of the gate hitting on all cylinders and currently hold home court seeding in their respective conferences.
The Suns hold the all-time record between the clubs with 49 wins in 91 meetings. Last season, the clubs played twice each taking one game to split the season series.
Phoenix Suns
Prior to tip the Suns were sitting atop the Western Conference and were facing the team positioned at the bottom of the East (Pistons).
It took overtime to decide the fate of the match but proved on any given night any club can win as Detroit handed the Suns a 105-110 loss, only their third of the season.
Detroit rallied from 23 points down to come back and scored the last nine points of overtime which almost didn’t happen as Devin Booker’s jumper failed to drop at the end of regulation. Booker led the Suns in scoring with 23 points.
Langston Galloway scored 17 including five 3-pointers and six shots in succession while Deandre Ayton produced a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Chris Paul dabbled with a triple-double scoring 11 points while Dario Saric (12) and Cameron Johnson (10) were the other double-figure contributors.

Indiana Pacers
Nate Bjorkgren has his Pacers rolling early in the season where they are currently tied with the Orlando Magic for second in the Eastern Conference with a 6-2 record and a half-game back of the 76ers.
In their most recent match, Indiana took down the Houston Rockets 114-107. In the victory, Malcolm Brogdon led the team with 35 points including four 3-pointers including one in the clutch to propel the Pacers to the win.
It was the second time in the last three games Brogdon has produced a career-high in points. Domantas Sabonis delivered his eighth consecutive double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Justin Holiday (20) and Victor Oladipo (18)were the other double-figure contributors. Myles Turner was active on defense matching his career-best tally of eight blocks.
Doug McDermott suffered an ankle injury in the last game making him questionable for Saturday. Jeremy Lamb (knee rehab) is out until mid-January.
TJ Warren (foot surgery), Jalen Lecque (ankle), Goga Bitadze (ankle), and Brian Bowen (groin) are all out indefinitely.
