Game 2 of the conference semi-finals between the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks kicks things off on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
New York made quick work of the 76ers in Game 1, thumping them 137-98. All five Sixers starters scored in double figures, but none scored over 17 points (Paul George). Joel Embiid had a rough shooting night with 3 of 11 from the field.
Just four Knicks scored in double figures, led by Jalen Brunson with 35 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns won the battle versus Embiid as he notched 17 points along with six rebounds, six assists, and a block.

During the 2025-26 campaign, these teams played four times, with it coming to a draw as each club won twice.
The teams have a storied history in the playoffs, having met on 10 previous occasions. The Sixers lead that category 6-4, but it’s the Knicks who bested Philly in the last two series, including in 2024.
While it appeared the Sixers could be the dark horse in the playoffs, those projections quickly vanished with news that Joel Embiid would be out after suffering appendicitis. While the Sixers starters should be better in Game 2, the main question is how their reserves will respond to the shellacking they took on Monday. To wit, the Knicks’ bench outscored Philly 42 to 30.

Here is my 76ers Knicks free pick.
Allowing the Knicks to shoot 63% from the hardwood isn’t exactly a winning strategy, so if the 76ers don’t make tweaks, they are in for a short run.
More likely, is the Sixers will bounce back from a poor effort in Game 1, but they still won’t have depth on their bench. Nick Nurse will likely navigate around that fact by playing his starters more minutes, but they’ll need at least a couple of serviceable players off the bench to be competitive.
Per John Schuhmann: The Knicks were the best rebounding team in the first round, and they outscored the Hawks by 6.2 points per game on second chances. Mitchell Robinson (19%) and Towns (17.8%) ranked first and fourth, respectively, in individual rebounding percentage among the 142 players who averaged at least 10 minutes.
New York won all the key categories, including shots attempted (+11), rebounding (+11), assists (+19), steals (+4), and blocks (+5). In addition, the Knicks won the paint battle, outscoring Philly 48 to 32, and won fast break scoring 16 to 3.
Clearly, the added rest for New York helped, but even if you account for that, there needs to be major tweaks to the 76ers defense (and they need more bench help) if Philly is going to make this a series.
At this point, I think it’s more likely the momentum New York is feeling continues with the Knicks winning and covering.
