Sunday, January 15th, the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers meet for the second and final time this season. Philly won the initial December 9th contest 133-122.
Philly is completing a back-to-back set having beat the Jazz in 118-117 in a nailbiter while the Lakers last played Thursday 115-119 in double overtime versus the Mavericks.
The Lakers hold the all-time record having won 146 matches of the 288 played. Last season, the squads played twice with the Sixers taking both contests.

Philadelphia 76ers
Another key point, getting the win in Utah perhaps was more of a given than anticipated since the Jazz were playing on consecutive nights and without Lauri Markkanen.
The fact the game was so close speaks to the issues this 76ers team has which I’ve repeatedly cited in previous previews.
At this point, Philly simply doesn’t play with consistency and certainly isn’t a team I can confidently give the benefit of the doubt to (at least not yet) like I would a team like the Nuggets for example.
Stats
On the positive side, this season, the 76ers score an average of 113.8 points per game ranking 16th.
Also, Philly shoots 47.8% from the field and 38.0% from the perimeter, ranking 11th and fourth respectively.
Certainly, the defensive side of the hardwood is where the 76ers make their mark allowing the fourth-fewest opponent points per game with 110.1.
Philly ranks 10th for field goal percentage at 46.6%, and sixth for perimeter efficiency shooting 34.3%.
All things considered, although the 76ers hadn’t yet submitted their official report as of this posting other sites list Tobias Harris (knee) as the only Philly player on it and as questionable to play on Sunday.
Los Angeles Lakers
To be fair, I never envisioned this team performing as well as they have while Anthony Davis was out. Another fact…they definitely got some very friendly whistles during this stretch but there is no discounting how well LeBron James has played.
At this point, Russell Westbrook deserves credit for accepting his role coming off the bench and for the most part shining as the Lakers Sixth Man.

On the negative side, LA allows opponents to score an average of 117.9 points per game ranking 27th. Their opponents shoot 47.3% from the field (19th) and 34.7% from behind the arc (8th).
Another key point, the Lakers score 116.6 points per game (9th) while shooting 48.3 percent from the field and 33.7 percent from the perimeter ranking sixth and 26th respectively.
All things considered, LeBron James (ankle) is probable, Patrick Beverley (illness) is questionable while Austin Reaves (hamstring) and Lonnie Walker IV (knee tendinitis) are out Sunday. Anthony Davis (foot) is out indefinitely.
