These teams just met on Saturday night. It was no surprise that Philly got the win though it was closer than the number suggested.
That hardly means that Philly should be worried. If anything maybe it creates a buying opportunity for them in this one.
Given the rematch is not a back to back situation there is no reason to think any key players will not be available. Though you never know with Joel Embiid.
Philadelphia 76ers
The 76ers were down at the half on Saturday. They used a strong 3rd quarter to build a lead then held off Detroit the rest of the way.
Philly was pretty healthy and actually got to use its preferred lineup of Embiid, Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Tobias Harris and Danny Green.
Everyone seemed to slot into their roles nicely too. Embiid was the Alpha with 33 points and 14 rebounds and Simmons chipped in 20 points.
Curry and Harris were solid as secondary scorers with 14 and 17 respectively. The bench did not provide much though. Nobody scored more than 8 off the pine.
The defense was right on their average of 110 points allowed. They should have been able to limit the Pistons more than that.
After this one, the 76ers are hosting the Lakers so they definitely could be caught looking ahead in this spot. They are probably hoping they can go light on starters’ minutes in this one.
If they play to their potential they should be able to. Philly is way ahead of Detroit right now. Even if they have to modify Embiid’s minutes.
Detroit Pistons
The Pistons actually played pretty well against Philly on Saturday considering both Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose were out. Both are again.
No Griffin allowed for them to start Saddiq Bey, a rookie out of a Villanova. I liked him a lot as a prospect. It is just too bad he is in a terrible situation. Otherwise, he can be like fellow Nova alum Mikal Bridges.
Other than Jerami Grant it feels like the Pistons are just throwing darts in who they are putting out there sometimes. With the lineups, they put out there it is a wonder they are even competitive some nights.
In the last game, Grant was not much of a factor. Wayne Ellington made some threes and that kept them pretty close. When something good happens for this team it is hard to expect that they can keep it up.

Grant has be neutralized if you really want to limit him. He is not Luka or Steph. I would gladly take my chances with the rest of the Pistons.
