Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Playoffs between the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics is on tap to open the night’s events at 7:00 p.m.
Boston took Game 4 in a commanding fashion, blowing out the Sixers 128-96, despite the return of Joel Embiid.
Four 76ers scored in double figures, led by Tyrese Maxey with 22 points and six assists. In his first postseason action, Embiid offered a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds, plus six assists and two stocks.
Three Celtics served up double-digit efforts, including Jayson Tatum with a double-double of 30 points and 11 assists plus seven rebounds. Payton Pritchard led the way with 32 points off the bench, and Jaylen Brown scored 20 points.

While the return of Joel Embiid should’ve been a boost for the 76ers, his presence seemed to allow the Celtics more room to move and have an easier time from the perimeter.
In fact, it looked like he wasn’t aware of the Celtics’ offensive sets as he stumbled around the paint. Nick Nurse needs to reconsider starting Embiid or not utilizing him as much because they will not win if he is the one getting the most shots.

Here is my 76ers Celtics free pick.
The trend continues for Boston, who win games where they shoot well from deep and only gets in trouble when they shoot below its average.
In Game 4, they shot 45% (24 of 53) with Payton Pritchard lethal from behind the arc. Consider the fact that Derrick White isn’t shooting well, and perhaps he’s due for a breakout, and it doesn’t bode well for the Sixers.
Clutch time could be a thing, as the 76ers are great in that timeframe (56.1%), but the question is whether Philly can even get Boston into the clutch.
Philly did win the points in the paint and fast break scoring, but needs to be even more aggressive in those areas if they want to extend the series.
Bottom line, the Celtics have looked like the cream of the East crop, and I think they finish off the Sixers in this match. The spread, however, is rather large, and given Philly will be playing desperately, I’ll take the points but the Celts to win.
