Saturday, January 7th, finds the Orlando Magic playing the Golden State Warriors for the second and final time this season. The Magic shocked the Warriors stealing the November 3rd match 130-129. It was the second win for Orlando who didn’t win again until game 12.
Golden State continues to love their home cooking currently on a season-high eight-game homestand although their win streak ended at five as the Pistons won 122-119 on Wednesday.
Orlando had to navigate nine players being penalized for the bench-clearing incident in Detroit needing two games to stagger the suspensions. While they won without key players on Wednesday they weren’t able to follow it up losing 115-123 to the Grizzlies on Thursday.
Last season, the squads played twice splitting the series each winning on their home court. The Magic holds the all-time record having bested the Warriors in 35 of the 67 matches.

Orlando Magic
Rookie Paolo Banchero is averaging 21.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game while sophomore Franz Wagner is averaging 19.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
Offensively the Magic average 110.3 points per game ranking 27th overall. They shoot 46.8% from the field and 34.3% from the perimeter ranking 18th and 20th respectively.
Defensively, Orlando holds their opponents to 114.2 points per game ranking 17th. The Magic allow opponents to shoot 47.2% from the field ranking 17th and foes shoot 34.2% from the perimeter ranking fifth overall.
Bol Bol (quarantine) is out Saturday. Chuma Okeke (knee) and Jonathan Isaac (knee) remain out indefinitely. RJ Hampton and Kevon Harris are on G League assignment.
Golden State Warriors
Add Klay Thompson to the lengthy list of players who’ve scored 50 or more points this season. The Splash Brother dialed back the time with that standout 54-point (including 10-made 3-pointers) effort versus the Hawks in the double-overtime win.
Thompson followed up his big scoring night with 30 points against the Pistons and scored the 3-pointer that initially set up his squad for overtime but the Pistons ended the game on a Saddiq Bey winning bucket.
Golden State averages 117.2 points per game (5th) while shooting 47.4% from the field (13th) and 37.4% from deep (6th). Warriors opponents score 117.6 points (27th) shooting 46.7% from the field and 35.5% from deep both ranking 10th.
Perhaps the biggest (and best) news out of San Francisco is Andrew Wiggins has returned to practice and Steph Curry will be re-evaluated this weekend. UPDATE: Wiggins has been upgraded to probable for Saturday.

Most of the players currently out (other than Iguodala) are set to be re-evaluated this coming week. The fear was the team would be trouble without Wiggs and Curry but it’s looking more like a huge win as they prepare to make a return to the hardwood.
Now they just need to find their inner road Warriors to try and move higher up the ladder.
Wiggins (adductor) upgraded to probable as was Iguodala (hip) while JaMychal Green (leg) Curry (shoulder), Jonathan Kuminga (foot), James Wiseman (ankle) are out.
