The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Utah Jazz in their last outing, after Russell Westbrook hit a clutch basket that gave them the lead and ultimately the game, while out in New Orleans the Pelicans beat the 2015-16 champions the Cleveland Cavaliers 124-122.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Utah Jazz continued to battle it out through the full 48 minutes of action. Neither team would let up through the full four quarters of play, however OKC got the upper hand thanks to an excellent final frame of play.

They outscored Utah 30-23 in the fourth quarter, and a final basket from Russell Westbrook allowed them to take the lead and win the game, with the final score 97-95 for OKC.
But it wasn’t just their scoring that allowed them to pull away ahead. Instead, it was their lockdown defense that was on display when the game counted most.
OKC just didn’t allow the Jazz to get of easy looks, and because of that Utah continued to trail.

So Oklahoma City has got to bring that same defensive energy if they’re to beat the New Orleans Pelicans.
Star forward Anthony Davis is a load to handle, so OKC has got to contain him early, in order to come away out on top in this matchup.
New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans earned easily their biggest win of the season after they beat the Cleveland Cavaliers in their last outing, despite not having star Anthony Davis in the starting line-up.
But that didn’t stop New Orleans from coming out victorious, and the play of Jrue Holiday and Terrence Jones helped in that cause.
Jrue Holiday pitched in 33 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists, while Terrence Jones dropped a career-high 36 points.
The play of those two really helped spark the Pelicans offense, and that was a key catalyst in helping earn them the win.
But they need to show that same type of team effort offensively if they’re to beat Oklahoma City in their next outing. The Thunder are a high scoring team thanks to the play of Russell Westbrook.
So if New Orleans can keep him in check all game, they’ll have themselves an easier chance at getting their second win in a row.
The OKC Thunder just don’t have anyone else to rely on in order to produce points, so if they stop Westbrook they essentially stop the whole Thunder offense from getting going.

So that means shutting down Westbrook has got to be first and foremost for the team, in order for them to beat OKC.
If they can do that, they’ll have themselves a shot, but again it’s going to come to their team defense.
