This Tuesday night match-up will see the red hot Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Brooklyn Nets in the first of their two regular season meetings.
Brooklyn is clearly starting to struggle without some of their top guys, but need to start finding wins if they want to remain in the race for the playoffs.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder are on the hottest teams in the NBA right now and as of writing this, they are 5-0 straight in the last 5 games, while also covering the spread in all those games as well. Going back a little further, the Thunder are also 9-1 in their last 10 games straight to show how well they are playing. This game actually comes on the second night of a back to back. Oklahoma City takes on the 76ers on Monday night.
Overall on the season, the Thunder are a below averaging scoring offense, averaging 108.6 points per game. This ranks just 20th in the NBA. However, the offensive production has clearly picked up as they are scoring an average of 111.4 points during their last 10 games.
The Thunder have to be on of the most balanced teams offensively as four different guys average at least 15 points per game. This includes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (19.9), Dennis Schroder (18.5), Danilo Gallinari (18), and Chris Paul (16.3).

As for defense, the Thunder have the 11th best scoring defense, allowing 107.1 points per game. During their 5-game winning streak, their defense has allowed an average of 101.8 points per game. Even with having played on Monday, look for the Thunder to have plenty of success defending this below average Brooklyn offense.
Brooklyn Nets
The Nets are the opposite of the Thunder right now as they come into this game on a 5-game losing streak. They also will play on Monday night, so whether this streak continues or ends is yet to be determined. Regardless, they are now starting to free fall in the Eastern Conference standings which is only going to hurt their playoff chances.
The offense is by no means the worst, but recently they have been very inconsistent. On the season, the Nets average 110.4 points per game. During their 5-game losing streak, their scoring average has dipped to 101.6. Note that Caris LeVert will be rested in Monday’s game, so he should be good to go in this contest.
LeVert has been injured for much of the season, which is the reason why he has played just 10 games. In those games however, he has been effective, averaging 16.4 points per game. Since the injury to Kyrie Irving, Spencer Dinwiddie has taken the role of top scorer and is now averaging 22.9 points per game.
Brooklyn have several other role players, but I am not sure it will be enough with how the Thunder have been playing.
Defense has overall been a huge issue as the Nets have had trouble slowing down most of their opponents. The weird part is they hold opponents to 43.4% shooting, the 3rd best in the league. Yet they allow 112 points per game and rank 19th in scoring defense.

Free Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA Prediction:
It is hard to believe the Thunder will fall to this Nets team regardless of the result in their Monday game. I like the Thunder to keep playing well and they pick up another win in Brooklyn.
