Knicks vs. 76ers Gameday
The Conference semi-finals will feature a change of venues as the New York Knicks visit the Philadelphia 76ers at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Friday.
New York took care of business, winning both home games to open the series, including a 108-102 victory in Game 2. Four Knicks scored in double figures, with Jalen Brunson leading the way, scoring 26 points, while OG Anunoby continued his hot playoffs, chipping in 24 points. Karl-Anthony Towns suffered with early foul trouble but finished with a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double.
Philly was much more competitive in Game 2 and kept the game close into clutch time. They were missing Joel Embiid, who sat out due to injury. Tyrese Maxey rebounded following a tame effort in Game 1 to score 26 points (although he took 23 shots to get there). He was joined by three teammates who scored in double digits.

Although the Knicks looked poised to win this round, don’t underestimate the 76ers. Game 2 was much more in line with how this series could play out. All the lead changes pointed to two teams more evenly matched than they looked in the initial contest.
Part of that was due to how much Round 1 took out of the Sixers, and in Game 2, they were missing Joel Embiid, who will be a Game Time Decision on Friday.

Concerning the Knicks, Anunoby will miss at least Game 3 with a hamstring injury that could keep him out for an extended period.
OG has been the best defender on the court and has stepped up his offensive intensity, so it will be interesting to see how much of a difference his absence makes for the Knicks. Look for Mikal Bridges to draw the task of replacing OG’s output.
New York took care of protecting their home court; now it’s time for the 76ers to do the same.
Per John Schuhmann: The Knicks were the best rebounding team in the first round, and they outscored the Hawks by 6.2 points per game on second chances. Mitchell Robinson (19%) and Towns (17.8%) ranked first and fourth, respectively, in individual rebounding percentage among the 142 players who averaged at least 10 minutes.
With 25 lead changes in Game 2, it bodes well for the Sixers to take the lessons learned and apply them to Game 3 on their home court. Joel Embiid remains a game-time decision, which makes things a little dicey to figure out the odds, but I’ll roll with the 76ers to take Game 3 and subsequently will take the points.
