Sunday, December 18th, the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers play the first of four scheduled matches. Indy will host again on April 5th while New York will host on January 11th and the final meeting on April 9th.
Both teams last played Friday with the Knicks defeating the Bulls 114-91 in Chicago while the Pacers lost 112-118 to the Cavaliers.
The teams have played a total of 188 occasions in their history with the Knicks winning 96 contests. Last season, the clubs played four times splitting the regular season series with two wins each.

New York Knicks
Tom Thibodeau has seemingly figured out his lineups and substitutions which has led to success for the Knicks recently. It’s also equated to a couple of players losing their playing time.
Specifically, Cam Reddish is out of the mix as is Thibs favorite Derrick Rose who the coach says has been nothing but professional.
The bigger part of the equation is Quentin Grimes — as soon as he returned from injury his presence seemed to coincide with the Knicks suddenly meshing and winning.
What this also means is it’s likely Reddish and Rose (and Fournier) will be among the main names being shopped leading up to the deadline for teams looking to add depth to their playoff rosters.
Randle is shooting 46.1 percent from the field on 16.3 attempts, 33.7 percent from the perimeter on 7.0 attempts, and 79.9 percent from the stripe on 6.1 attempts.
Offensively, the Knicks score 114.3 points per game (12th). New York shoots 45.3% from the field ranking 25th and 32.9% from the perimeter ranking 26th.

Indiana Pacers
Unlike the Knicks, the Pacers didn’t have to go searching for chemistry. Rather, they began the season with a bond and that organic fit that teams sometimes never find.
While the Cinderella Pacers have overachieved the issue for Kevin Pritchard and GM Chad Buchanan is what to do with Myles Turner and Buddy Hield.
All season we’ve noted how Bennedict Mathurin needs to be in the starting lineup getting reps with Tyrese Haliburton to fast-track that duo’s bond. But, should they really trade both Turner and Hield or stick with them because they mesh so well with the current roster?
Personally, I wouldn’t package the duo unless the Pacers were getting back an unbelievable package that included both picks and young assets.
It’s worth noting no draft pick is a guarantee so taking on Russell Westbrook’s salary and two draft picks isn’t something Indy should be invested in doing.
Haliburton is averaging a double-double of 19.8 points and 10.6 assists plus 4.3 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game. He’s shooting 47.9 percent from the field on 15.0 attempts, 40.2 percent from the perimeter on 7.2 attempts, and 86.1 percent from the stripe on 2.9 attempts.
The Pacers average 114.9 points per game (11th) shooting 45.7% from the field (23rd) and 36.5% from deep (10th). Defensively, Indy allows 115.8 points (23rd) with opponents shooting 47.0% from the field (16th), and 36.7% from deep (21st).
Duarte (on assignment), Kendall Brown (tibia fracture), and Daniel Theis (knee) are out.

The clubs have swapped positions on the leaderboard and this may be the start of the Pacers beginning their tanking effort. I’m not sure how real the Knicks’ recent success is or if they’re just playing harder than they had in the initial dozen games to open the season.
One thing we know for certain is if the Knicks get an early lead and start yapping — Indy is NOT the team you do that to because they’ve come back repeatedly from double-digit deficits and their youngsters don’t shrink from the spotlight — in fact, they seem to hunt it!
I don’t typically veer from a win streak, but something tells me the Pacers will expose the Knicks.
