Knicks vs. Hawks Gameday
Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Playoffs between the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks is on tap in the first game of the day at 7:00 p.m.
Atlanta evened up the series by erasing a deficit and stealing the match in New York 107-106. The match was reminiscent of when Trae Young had his way at MSG, but this time it was CJ McCollum who stole the night.
All five Knicks starters plus Mitchell Robinson produced double figures, with Jalen Brunson leading the way with 29 points and seven assists, but he was hunted on defense all game.
Four Hawks scored in double-digits, led by McCollum with 32 points, three rebounds, six assists, two steals, and a block.

New York Knicks vs. Atlanta Hawks Odds & Last 5
For the past three years, the Knicks have won the head-to-head regular-season series versus the Hawks. In this campaign, they led two games to one.
Historically, the teams have met in the postseason on three occasions, with the Knicks winning twice, but the Hawks won the most recent (2021) meeting when Trae Young was still with Atlanta and famously quieted the Mecca.
Coming into the playoffs, the Hawks were one of the hottest teams, winning 19 of their final 24 contests. New York was also strong to close the season, winning 12 of their final 16 contests.
The Knicks are favored by a spread of 1.5 points while the over/under is 216.5 points.

New York Knicks vs. Atlanta Hawks bottom line:
All season, the Knicks have had a bad habit of playing with their food. They allow teams to get hot and have to chase them down in the final frame, or they build a lead and allow their opponent back in the game.
This time it cost them, and now they’ve lost the home court advantage and maybe worse, let the Hawks know they are in this series as they head home for the next two.

Knicks Hawks Free Pick: Hawks +1.5
Here is my Knicks Hawks free pick.
Some of Mike Brown’s decisions have been questionable in this series. He’s started resting both Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns at the same time. They were both on the bench when Atlanta erased the lead, begging the question of why at least one of them wasn’t on the floor to maintain the scoring.
Also curious is why he failed to use his third timeout before the three-minute mark, especially with the Hawks charging.
Atlanta got lucky in Game 2 because Jalen Brunson typically excels in clutch time and has led the Knicks to 21-13 in clutch time wins. New York ranks sixth in clutch time win percentage (61.8%) versus Atlanta who rank 18th (48.6%).
The Hawks have begun to hunt Brunson and Towns on defense, which could be why Brown sat them both, but still, it’s a weird decision. KAT was hot in the first half but faded away in a corner in the second half. He attempted 12 field goals to Brunson’s 26 — again, not the best strategy, especially with the latter looking tired.
Atlanta, on the other hand, returns home knowing Jalen Johnson has yet to have a good game, and the others will perform better at home. If I believed in New York, I’d pick them to wrestle back control of the series, but they strike me as a my turn, your turn team, and that just won’t cut it.
Take the points and the Hawks to carry over their momentum and force New York into a must-win in Game 4.
