On Tuesday, December 13th, New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz will meet for the second of three scheduled matches playing a baseball set in Utah that finishes on Thursday the 15th. Utah won the initial October 23rd overtime match 122-121.
New Orleans last played Sunday finishing the baseball set swept versus the Suns with a 129-124 overtime victory while the shorthanded Jazz fought mightily but lost 110-115 to the Nuggets on Saturday.

The new leaders in the West are the Pelicans who didn’t just beat the Suns in consecutive games they made a statement in the process. Zion Williamson’s 360 dunk at the end of Friday could’ve (and probably should’ve) provided the motivation for Phoenix to split the set.
Instead, the Suns lost again and it may have punctuated the passing of the baton to a new powerhouse in the West.
While Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum were sidelined, Zion Williamson took over as the primary scorer and is now averaging 24.5 points, 7.2 rebounds (2.1 offensive boards), 4.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
He’s shooting 60.5 percent from the field on 15.5 attempts, 27.3 percent from the perimeter on 0.6 attempts, and 72.3 percent from the stripe on 7.8 attempts.
Offensively, the Pelicans rank third for scoring averaging 117.6 points per game while shooting 48.8% from the field and 36.8% from the perimeter ranking fifth and 10th respectively.
Defensively, the Pelicans allow opponents to score 110.6 points per game, ranking eighth. New Orleans holds their opponents to 46.1% from the field also ranking eighth and boasts the second-best perimeter ranking of 33.5%.
Herbert Jones (ankle) is probable for Tuesday. Brandon Ingram (toe) and E.J. Liddell (knee) are all out.

Despite being severely shorthanded the Jazz hung around Saturday to force the Nuggets to take the game which is indicative of how Will Hardy has his young squad competing in every match.
Although Lauri Markkanen is currently sidelined he leads the surprising Jazz in scoring as the only 20-point or more producer. Markkanen is averaging 22.2 points, 8.5 rebounds (2.2 offensive boards), and 2.2 assists.
He’s shooting 52.8 percent from the field on 15.1 attempts, 41.3 percent from the perimeter on 6.4 attempts, and 83.3 percent from the stripe on 4.4 attempts.
Utah averages 117.3 points per game (5th) while shooting 47.7% from the field (8th) and 37.27% from deep (7th). Jazz opponents score 115.9 points (22nd) shooting 47.6% from the field (21st) and 34.0% from deep (6th).
