In the loss to the Warriors Tuesday Anthony Davis had an efficient game. He finished 10-14 from the floor and 7-8 from the line for 28 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks. The team’s struggles cannot be blamed on Davis, as he has been one of the most dominate players to step on the court in years. The lack of talent on the roster is jarring and you wonder if the front office is wasting Davis’ prime years.

A big boost to his play has been the return of guard Jrue Holiday. After caring for his wife to start the season, Holiday has been very good whenever he is on the floor.

He is averaging 15 points and nearly 6 assists per contest. Facing the Rockets, who’s head coach things defense is optional, Holiday should be huge in this game.

Tim Frazier is doubtful for this game after hurting his wrist against the Warriors, if he can’t go expect Holliday to man the point guard position and Eric Gordon to play at the 2 spot.

New Orleans defense has been like a layup line, giving up over 112 points in their last 7 games (1-6). They face arguably the best scorer in the game in James Harden, so I expect them to give up over 110 points in this contest.

Houston Rockets

Houston has been a major surprise in the Western Conference this season. This explosive offense has racked up 7 straight wins, and 9 of their last 10.

The Rockets have gotten key victories over Golden State, Portland, and Oklahoma City, showing they will be a major force in the Western Conference playoffs.

James Harden continues his amazing play, as he dropped 36 points on the Nets Monday night. His scoring should give the Pelicans fits all night, but his ability to pass the ball has been difference in the Rockets great first quarter of the season.

I expect Harden to put up amazing numbers again in this game, as he should get 30 points and 10 assists without much effort.

Veteran swingman Trevor Ariza has been solid during the Rockets recent run. Against the Nets he did have a poor shooting night finishing with only 7 points on 3-8 shooting (0-4 from 3 pt range).

A bounce back performance should be in store for Ariza so look for him to put up a double double against New Orleans.

The Rockets defense will have a tough time stopping Anthony Davis, but every team does. He will get his numbers but don’t expect the rest of the Pelicans to pick up the slack, which has been the case for much of the season.
