The Minnesota Timberwolves will be on the road to take on the OKC Thunder on Friday, January 7th.
The tip-off is set for 8:00 ET from Paycom Center.
Minnesota started off as a 5 point favorite and that number is now up to 5.5. The total has gone from 214.5 to 215.
The Timberwolves have been a weird team to figure out this year. They have looked good at times, but I still feel like they could be playing better basketball.
This team currently has a mini, two-game winning streak going on and they will look to make it three in a row when everything is settled on Friday.
As just an NBA fan, I became so used to seeing this team being a bottom feeder in the league. It is good to see that they are at least representative.
The trio of Russell, Towns, and Edwards is certainly a very good one, but to me, they are going to have to add another piece if they wish to be a true contender out West. What they have now is good, but it is not on the level of the elite.
Minnesota took care of the Thunder on Wednesday by a score of 98-90. They will once again look to have success against them when these two clubs square off on Friday.
Anthony Edwards was the leading scorer for this crew in their last game with 22 points and 2 assists. Also, Patrick Beverly added in 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists. It was not the best night offensively for this team, but they did what they had to do to get the win and the defense played very well.
2021-2022 has not been kind to the Thunder. This is a team that has done more losing than they have done winning.
Oklahoma City comes into this matchup with a record of 13-24, which puts them in 13th place in the Eastern Conference. The only teams that are below them are the New Orleans Pelicans and the Houston Rockets.
This team has a lot of work to do if they wish to be relevant again. First off, they have to get some support for their best player, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. If they can do that, it will at least be a start to something, but if they don’t, they will continue to be a bottom team in the West.
The Thunder last played on Wednesday, where they lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves by a score of 98-90. They will look to have better results when they face the same team again on Friday.
Simply put, the offense was just not good enough in their last win. Sure, the defense played pretty well, but you have to score the ball more effectively if you are going to win more games in this league.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Timberwolves are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games.
- The Timberwolves are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games on the road.
- The Thunder are 2-6 SU in their last 8 games played in January.
- The total has gone under in 4 of Oklahoma City’s last 5 games.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. OKC Thunder NBA Analysis:
This is interesting that these teams are playing again after they just squared off on Wednesday. I wonder if the Thunder will make the adjustments or if they will do the same things that made them lose a day ago.
Minnesota has been playing much better as of late and they will look to keep that up. If they are on their game, they should be able to take care of business.
For a while, it was very hard for Minnesota to get a consistent lineup out on the court due to the virus and injuries, but it seems like most of their key guys are healthy and ready to go for Friday. It is important these players get chemistry, which is hard to do when the starting five is jumbled every game.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Timberwolves ATS
I know these teams met just on Wednesday, so I am really not trying to have recency bias. With that said, I look for the Wolves to use a similar formula as they did last time to beat them again on Friday.
Besides Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder really do not have all that many weapons. If Minnesota can keep the other people in check, then I feel they will have success in this ball game.
