Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Houston Rockets Odds & Last 5
Last year, the teams played four times and split the season series. This is the final meeting between the clubs this campaign, with each side having a win.
Minny has struggled without their superstar Anthony Edwards, and is having trouble collecting wins. They are 2-5 through the last seven matches with a record of 47-33. Given the losing, they’ve lost out on opportunities to move up, having cemented themselves into the sixth seed.
With the recent winning streak, the Rockets have jumped up to the fifth seed with a record of 51-29. In contrast to their opponent they still have something to play for as they are even with the limping Lakers and could overtake them for fourth and subsequently homecourt in the first round.
Houston is favored by 10.5 points with an over/under of 222 points.
Timberwolves Stats

The Wolves team leaders* are Anthony Edwards for scoring (28.9 points) and steals (1.4), Rudy Gobert for rebounding (11.5) and blocks (1.6), and Julius Randle for assists (5.0).
As for the perimeter, it’s a strength for the Wolves, who average 37.0% from deep with eight players shooting above the league average.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Houston Rockets bottom line:
With the stretch run in full effect, teams have a few games left to improve upon their positions and fix any glaring errors. In this matchup, however, only one team has anything left to play for.
Minnesota has the 14th-ranked closing schedule with two games remaining versus the Rockets and Pelicans. But, as noted, they are locked into the sixth seed, so rest will take precedence over winning.
Houston also has two games remaining, with both the Wolves and Grizzlies being hosted at the Toyota Center. The difference for the Rockets is that they can still gain the fourth seed, so they have a vested interest in winning. Houston has the 20th-rated remaining strength of schedule.

Timberwolves Rockets Free Pick: Rockets -10.5
Here is my Timberwolves Rockets free pick.
Houston is one of the hottest teams in the association with their eight-game winning streak in play. It’s come at the perfect time with LA suffering key injuries and opened the door for them to slide into fourth if they can take care of business.
Per John Schuhmann: The Wolves’ starting lineup still leads the league with 710 total minutes played together. The lineup has outscored opponents by 7.9 points per 100 possessions, a mark that ranks 11th among 19 lineups that have played at least 200 minutes, and the numbers have been very similar (plus-7.4 per 100) in 158 minutes with the other four starters on the floor without McDaniels.
Houston should have this one handily, given Edwards is out, and likely several other Wolves starters, to allow them time to rest their various injuries.
The question is whether the Rockets will come out on fire or let the Wolves’ reserves push them, leading to Houston needing to lock down in the latter stages of the match.
I’m banking on them learning from their recent close call and taking this match by the spread appointed.
