*Editor’s Note: Statistics and rankings are current as of this writing Sunday, December 18. Numbers may vary slightly entering games on Monday, December 19.
Milwaukee Bucks
Big news for the Bucks as Joe Ingles is set to make his season debut in this match. Ingles suffered a torn ACL and hasn’t played for Milwaukee since being traded there.
Milwaukee responded to a 41-point beat down to Memphis by netting a similar oust to the Jazz despite missing Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. Bobby Portis took the lead serving up a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds.
Jrue Holiday (21 points, eight assists) and Brook Lopez (18 points, eight rebounds) also were key to the victory.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is averaging of 30.6 points, 11.1 rebounds (2.0 offensive boards), 5.3 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game.
He’s shooting 52.7 percent from the field on 21.0 attempts, 26.0 percent from the perimeter on 3.2 attempts, and 62.8 percent from the stripe on 12.1 attempts.
Opponents score the fourth-fewest points versus the Bucks with 108.4 and are limited to the second-lowest (44.9%) field goal percentage and rank ninth for opponent perimeter percentage of 34.6%.
Offensively, the Bucks score 112.6 points per game (17th), while shooting 45.9% from the field (22nd) and 35.2% from the perimeter (17th).
Khris Middleton (knee soreness) is out while AJ Green is on G League assignment.
New Orleans Pelicans
Last week the Pelicans were riding about as high as they’ve been all season. They’d swept the Suns in the baseball series and overtaken the top rung in the West.
One week later they discovered just how precarious life can be as they got swept by the Jazz, weren’t able to collect a third consecutive win versus the Suns extending their losing streak to three, and fell to second in the West.
Zion Williamson is averaging 25.5 points, 7.2 rebounds (2.1 offensive boards), 4.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
He’s shooting 61.0 percent from the field on 16.0 attempts, 33.3 percent from the perimeter on 0.8 attempts, and 72.2 percent from the charity stripe on 7.8 attempts per contest.
Offensively, the Pelicans rank third for scoring averaging 117.3 points per game while shooting 48.7% from the field and 36.5% from the perimeter ranking fourth and ninth respectively.
Defensively, the Pelicans allow opponents to score 112.0 points per game, ranking 12th. New Orleans holds their opponents to 46.2% from the field also ranking eighth and boasts the third-best perimeter ranking of 33.8%.
Larry Nance (Achilles soreness) is doubtful while Brandon Ingram (toe) and E.J. Liddell (knee) are out. Dereon Seabron is on G League assignment.

Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. New Orleans Pelicans NBA Prediction:
While the Pelicans fought to get to the top they found out very quickly just how difficult it is to stay there once arriving. They might want to take a lesson from the Bucks who are content to sit back and let the other teams garner the spotlight.
This is an intriguing matchup featuring two of the most unstoppable, unique players in the game and therefore should have some idea of how to stop the other team’s unicorn.
New Orleans is deep but the Bucks are experienced so I’m leaning toward the latter as they serve up yet another lesson to the young Pelicans on what it takes to be the best.
