Saturday, January 21st the Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers meet for the fourth and final time this season. The Bucks are leading the season series 2-1 with victories on November 16th (113-98) and 25th (117-102) while the Cavaliers won on December 21st (114-106).
The Cavaliers are completing a back-to-back having lost 114-120 the Warriors while the Bucks have been off since Tuesday when they defeated the Raptors 130-122.
Last season the clubs played four times with the Cavaliers winning three of the four contests. The Bucks hold the all-time record with 130 wins in 228 matches versus Cleveland.
*Editor’s Note: Statistics and rankings are current as of this writing, Friday evening, January 20th. Numbers may vary slightly entering games on Saturday, January 21st.
Milwaukee Bucks
Giannis Antetokounmpo has sat the last four games with the team going 2-2 in that stretch. Because there has been space between games it’s allowed the superstar to get 10 consecutive days of rest.
Begging the question of how serious Antetokounmpo’s knee soreness is he remains listed as questionable.
Given the Cavs played on Friday and the Pistons are on tap next there is a possibility the team will extend his rest into next week and bring him back against the Pistons to ease him back in or hold him out until Wednesday to face the Nuggets.
Stats
As can be seen, opponents score the sixth-fewest points with the Bucks allowing 111.3 per game limiting opponents to 45.4% from the field and 34.9% from deep ranking fourth and eighth respectively.
As a result, offensively, the Bucks score 112.6 points per game ranking 21st, while shooting 45.6% from the field and 35.5% from the perimeter ranking 25th and 18th in the latter two categories
Additionally, Antetokounmpo (knee) and Khris Middleton are questionable. Serge Ibaka (personal) is out.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Although the Cavaliers have been competitive in most matches it’s interesting to note their last eight games and the specific competition. The wins occurred versus the undermanned Suns and Pelicans as well as the sub-500 Blazers.
Two of the five losses were against teams just under .500 (Jazz, Wolves) while the other trio was against teams with winning records (Nuggets, Grizzlies) or in the case of the Warriors an even record.
I bring this point up because it highlights once again that the Cavs have issues closing against the better competition. Moreover, the loss to the Dubs on Friday was with Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green all sitting.
Stats
Offensively, Cleveland scores 111.6 points per game ranking 26th while shooting 48.3% from the field and 36.3% on the perimeter ranking seventh and 13th respectively.
At this instant, Cleveland tops the league for opponent scoring limiting foes to an average of 107.4 points per game. Also, Cavs opponents shoot 46.6% from the field and 37.0% from deep ranking seventh and 25th.
On the negative side, Donovan Mitchell (groin) remains questionable for Saturday as is Ricky Rubio (rest). Dylan Windler (ankle) and Dean Wade (shoulder) are out indefinitely.

Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Prediction:
As noted above, the Cavs struggle to finish strong versus the better teams and while they also have the rest disadvantage the biggest question is whether Giannis will play.
Jrue Holiday has been playing at an All-NBA level lately on both sides of the court so I like the Bucks to win straight-up regardless of whether the superstar on either side suits up.
