Friday, December 23rd, the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets meet for the second of four scheduled matches. Brooklyn will host again on February 28th while Milwaukee will host the final meeting on March 9th. Milwaukee won the initial match 110-99 on October 26th.
Both teams last played Wednesday with the Bucks losing 106-114 to the Cavaliers while the Nets pounded the Curry-less Warriors 143-113.
Milwaukee holds the all-time advantage having won 108 times of the club’s 184 meetings. Last year the teams played four times with the Bucks winning three of the four contests.
*Editor’s Note: Statistics and rankings are current as of this writing, Thursday evening, December 22nd. Numbers may vary slightly entering games on Friday, December 23rd.
Milwaukee Bucks
While he wasn’t successful, Giannis Antetokounmpo served up his best in an effort to erase the double-digit deficit they were in versus the Cavaliers.
In the end, he scored a season-high (45 points) and needed just a few more minutes as the Bucks lost to Cleveland for the first time in three meetings.
Antetokounmpo is averaging of 31.6 points, 11.2 rebounds (2.0 offensive boards), 5.1 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game.
He’s shooting 53.7 percent from the field on 21.1 attempts, 25.9 percent from the peri7eter on 3.1 attempts, and 64.0 percent from the stripe on 12.6 attempts.
Opponents score the fourth-fewest points versus the Bucks with 108.9 and are limited to the second-lowest (44.9%) field goal percentage and rank ninth for opponent perimeter percentage of 34.7%.
Offensively, the Bucks score 112.9 points per game (17th), while shooting 46.2% from the field (21st) and 35.3% from the perimeter (16th).
Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee) is probable while Khris Middleton (knee soreness) is doubtful.
Brooklyn Nets
While the offseason drama of Kevin Durant’s trade request and Kyrie Irving’s early season off-court actions derailed the Nets early, since the latter’s return from suspension, things have been relatively quiet (off the court at least).
In those 16 games, the Nets are 13-3 (he was out in two of those wins with an injury) and are on a current seven-game win streak.
Brooklyn allows 111.5 points per game ranking 10th and possesses the sixth-best opponent field goal percentage of 45.6%. Their perimeter defense is another story as foes shoot 37.5% from deep ranking 27th overall.
Brooklyn scores 114.0 points per game (15th). They own the best field goal percentage, shooting 50.8%, and rank third on the perimeter (38.3%).
Kyrie Irving (calf) is probable while Yuta Watanabe (hamstring) is questionable for Friday.
NBA Betting Trends:

- The Bucks are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games against Brooklyn.
- The Nets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games.
- The Nets are 9-1 SU in their last 10 games at home.
Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA Prediction:
A deep dive into their last 16 games offers reasons to hold off buying Nets stock. To wit, only four of those opponents have winning records and the two wins Brooklyn collected from that group featured a Grizzlies squad missing their Big 3 and the Blazers without Damian Lillard.
Moreover, in all three matches versus Toronto, the Raptors were missing at least three core players (up to six), and versus the Hawks two of their top three players were out.
Granted, Brooklyn can only play the teams on the slate and who dresses but how the Nets would fare facing the core lineups is unknown and subsequently, I’m not ready to anoint them as one of the elite teams.
Therefore, I’m taking the points and the Bucks but as a caution, it’s worth checking the last injury update before game time to ensure Antetokounmpo is playing.
