This is the third game this season for both these teams. They’ve split the first two games that were both played at AT&T Center in San Antonio. The Grizzlies and Spurs have both been inconsistent this season.
The Spurs have been dealing with inconsistent play from their star players DeMar DeRozan and LeMarcus Aldridge. The Grizzlies are trying to find a playing style that fits their young core of players consisting of Jay Morant and Brandon Clarke.
This game can go either way. The team that can prevent the least amount of turnovers and wins the rebounding battle will likely prevail.
Memphis Grizzlies
The future for the Grizzlies looks promising with the potential of Morant and Clarke. Before this year’s draft, Morant was the obvious story, being the second pick in the draft. Clarke rookie numbers though have been an unexpected surprise averaging an outstanding 64.6 % in field goals and 44.8 % in 3 point field goals.

Spurs head coach Greg Popovich is one of the NBA’s all-time greatest coaches. He will be looking to take advantage of the Grizzlies inconsistencies on defense and overall experience.
However, the Spurs are finding it hard to replace the void left by Tony Parker and Tim Duncan.
The Grizzlies have the potential to win this game. The key for them is to limit their turnovers and get off to an early lead at home.
Their offense goes through Jay Morant. If he can make consistent decisive decisions throughout the game they can take control of this game.
The other area of the Grizzlies game that is impressive for a young team is limiting personal fouls. The Grizzlies are averaging 19.9 personal fouls a game which is top ten in the league.
Watch out for Dillion Brooks and Jae Crowder to have an impact on this game. If Morant can get them going early the Grizzlies will be in good shape.
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs have not had a start to a season like this in 22 years. Their 22 playoff appearance looks very likely to be snapped if they can’t find consistency in their style of play.
The obvious void on this team that has seen Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, and Manu Ginobli retire over the last few seasons is leadership.
There is only so much Popovich can game plan for. On the floor the Spurs lack a vocal leader and often find themselves lost when they need to make a stop or a basket. DeRozan has been inconsistent offensively and nonexistent defensively.
Aldridge has regressed back to a passive style of play. He is great at what he does but being a veteran on a team that lacks leadership on the court, he needs to step up his leadership.
Under Popovich the Spurs have been known for their hard-nosed defense. They are now in unfamiliar territory having no defensive identity and struggling to stop teams. The Spurs are also allowing 46.9 opponents to rebound a game. That is near the bottom in the league.
They will have their hands full away to the Grizzlies backcourt. Jae Crowder and Jaren Jackson Jr. are a lively duo that will keep the Spurs frontcourt busy all night.
The Spurs will likely lineup small against the Grizzlies. This will allow them to play a faster game and dictate the pace. They will have to keep Morant in check early. If he gets going the Grizzlies get going. Look for Popovich to employ a more physical game plan against Morant.

Free Memphis Grizzlies vs San Antonio Spurs NBA Prediction:
This could be an up and down game as both teams have gone through spurts where they have an inability to score points when needed. The team that limits turnovers and makes more clutch shots wins.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Spurs -1
Popovich record against younger teams could be the difference-maker. If Aldridge and DeRozan can catch fire the Spurs will win a close game.
