Saturday, December 17th, finds the Memphis Grizzlies facing the OKC Thunder in the third of four scheduled meetings this season.
Memphis won the initial meetings (121-110) on November 18th and December 7th (123-102). OKC will play host to the final meeting on April 9th.
Memphis last played Thursday embarrassing the Bucks 142-101 while OKC is completing a back-to-back set having lost a 110-112 heartbreaker to the Wolves on Friday.
Last season, the teams played three times with the Grizzlies taking two of the three contests. The Thunder holds the all-time record having bested the Grizzlies in 65 of their 100 matches

Memphis Grizzlies
It sure didn’t take long for the Grizzlies to move past the Pelicans to own the top seed all on their own and they did it in dramatic fashion. While the Pelicans got swept by the Jazz, Memphis didn’t just beat the East’s second seed they annihilated them by forty points (142-101).
Ja Morant averages 27.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 7.8 assists, and 1.2 steals while attempting 21 field goals per game, 5.0 perimeter shots, and 9.0 free throws shooting 45.8%, 35.5%, and 74.2% respectively.
Offensively, the Grizzlies score 116.5 points per game ranking sixth overall. Memphis shoots 47.1% from the field ranking 15th, and 36.1% from the perimeter ranking 14th.
Defensively, Memphis allow their opponents to score 111.3 points per game (10th). Opponents shoot 44.8% from the field (1st) and 35.4% from deep (15th).
Desmond Bane (toe), and Danny Green (knee) are out.
OKC Thunder
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander did his best to carry his squad to a victory producing 35 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and a steal. He got to the line 12 times (making 10).
The issue was his supporting cast wasn’t able to offer enough support with Eugene Omoruyi (14), Aaron Wiggins (14), Jalen Williams (13), and Josh Giddey (11) the other double-figure contributors.
SGA is averaging 31.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. Most impressive is his shooting proficiency with him connecting on 50 percent of his 20.8 attempts from the field. He’s shooting 92.6 percent from the charity stripe on 10 attempts per game both career-bests.
The Thunder score 115.3 points per game ranking eighth. OKC ranks 21st shooting 46.2% from the field and ranks 23rd from the perimeter shooting 33.9%.
Defensively, the Thunder rank 27th for opponent points allowed per game with 117.2 scored. Their foes shoot 46.7% from the field which ranks 14th and 36.7% from the perimeter ranking 22nd.
The official injury report isn’t submitted yet but the presumption is… Darius Bazley (illness) is questionable, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (ankle), Kenrich Williams (knee), and Ousmane Dieng (wrist) are out. Chet Holmgren (foot) is out for the season.

The biggest question is whether Taylor Jenkins elects to rest Morant or Jackson Jr because of who the opponent is. They have the rest advantage and just took over first place in the West so I’m betting everyone that’s healthy plays.
SGA will need to be careful of fellow Canadian Dillon Brooks who has been shutting down his defensive assignments and getting in their heads (see Middleton last game).
I typically favor the Thunder to keep it close, but I like the Grizz to win and cover this time.
