*Editor’s Note: Statistics and rankings are current as of this writing, Thursday evening, December 22nd. Numbers may vary slightly entering games on Friday, December 23rd.
Indiana Pacers
Although the Celtics are reeling having lost five of their last six matches, the fact Indy marched into the Garden and held off Boston as they surged in the second half punctuates just how quickly this young roster has grown.
Tyrese Haliburton led the way with 33 points and eight assists as Indy jumped on Boston taking a 20-point lead into the second quarter.
Haliburton is averaging a double-double of 20.0 points and 10.6 assists plus 4.0 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game. He’s shooting 47.2 percent from the field on 15.3 attempts, 38.9 percent from the perimeter on 7.4 attempts, and 87.1 percent from the stripe on 3.1 attempts.
The Pacers average 114.7 points per game (12th) shooting 45.7% from the field (25th) and 36.7% from deep (12th). Defensively, Indy allows 115.5 points (21st) with opponents shooting 46.7% from the field (13th), and 36.3% from deep (20th).
Tyrese Haliburton (wrist) and Aaron Nesmith (ankle) are questionable for Friday. Kendall Brown (tibia fracture), and Daniel Theis (knee) are out indefinitely.
Miami Heat
Offensively, the Heat score 108.0 points per game (29th rank) shooting 45.2% from the field (26th) and 34.3% from the perimeter (23rd).
Defensively, the Heat allow opponents to score 109.1 points per game ranking fifth. Miami opponents shoot 47.3% from the field and 35.7% from the perimeter ranking 18th and 13th respectively.
Kyle Lowry (knee), Jimmy Butler (illness), and Dewayne Dedmon (undisclosed) were upgraded to probable. Caleb Martin (ankle), Gabe Vincent (knee), and Udonis Haslem (Achilles) are questionable. Omer Yurtseven (ankle surgery) is out.

Free Indiana Pacers vs. Miami Heat NBA Prediction:
At season start it was anticipated the Pacers would be a tanking team while the Heat would be in the mix for a home-court seed but with a third of the season in the books, both teams sport identical 16-16 records.
That’s a positive for the Pacers who have overachieved but not considered great news for the Heat who haven’t capitalized on their constancy and look like they either need to add talent or break up their aging core.
Like most games for the Heat, much depends on whether Jimmy Butler plays and since he’s listed as probable I’m inclined to think Miami wins. I’m more invested in the total since the teams haven’t broken 201 cumulative points in their two prior meetings so 225 seems far too high.
