Sunday, December 26th, finds the Indiana Pacers facing the Chicago Bulls for the second time this season. In the initial meeting on November 22nd, the Pacers won 109-77. The squads will play twice more with Indiana hosting on December 31st and February 4th.
Chicago last played Monday in a 133-118 winning effort versus the Rockets while the Pacers played Thursday in a 118-106 victory also versus Houston.
Last season, the teams played three times with the Bulls winning two of the three contests. The Bulls hold the all-time record having bested the Pacers in 99 of their 196 matches.
Indiana Pacers
The ongoing debate of whether the Pacers are actually serious about trading the trio of Domantas Sabonis, Myles Turner, and Caris LeVert rages on.
It’s thrown analysts and bloggers into a tizzy coming up with potential deals. And while fans try to decipher if it’s true that specific trio vacillates between great and head-scratching efforts.
In one game they’ll push the Warriors to the brink before succumbing and then lose by 29 points to a severely undermanned Heat team.
In the losses, there are signs this team is literally waiting for the other shoe to drop and aren’t necessarily invested in putting in that extra effort to help a team eager to trade them. It makes for an interesting scenario for Rick Carlisle to have to navigate.
Without Sabonis or Malcolm Brogdon playing on Thursday, two of the trio put up big performances as Myles Turner (32 points, 10 rebounds) and Caris LeVert (24 points, 11 assists) both registered double-doubles versus the Rockets.
Rookie Chris Duarte (18) and Jeremy Lamb (16) were the other double-figure scorers.
The Pacers are one of the few teams without players currently working their way through the health and safety protocols. Brogdon (Achilles) and Sabonis (calf) are questionable for Sunday while TJ McConnell (wrist) and TJ Warren (foot) are out indefinitely.
Chicago Bulls
With the game versus the Raptors being postponed the Bulls have been idle since Monday and it’s afforded many of the players who were out due to testing positive to run out the quarantine clock.
At one time there were 10 Bulls in quarantine but the last six are finished their 10-day stint, had time for conditioning, and are all listed as probable for Sunday’s match.
Despite missing LaVine and suffering some new injuries DeMar DeRozan returned looking as sharp as he did before quarantine as he and Lonzo led the way in wins versus the Lakers and Rockets. Six Bulls scored in double figures as DeRozan led the way with 26 points.
The six exiting protocols and listed as probable for Sunday are Zach LaVine, Alize Johnson, Troy Brown Jr., Matt Thomas, Ayo Dosunmu, and Devon Dotson.
Derrick Jones Jr, (hamstring) and Alex Caruso (foot) are out indefinitely while Patrick Wiliams (thumb) is lost for the season.

Free Indiana Pacers vs. Chicago Bulls NBA Prediction
Indy is 5-3 through their last eight matches and served the Bulls their worst loss of the season so Chicago will be looking for revenge in this match.
That said, with so many Bulls expected back from quarantine they’ll need to shake off the rust and that should keep this game closer than the 8.5 point spread.
