Both of these team’s openers went pretty close to expectations. Indiana won and Chicago lost.
Indiana is one of the few teams that has excellent continuity this season. That might be really valuable early.
Chicago was out of its opener pretty early against Atlanta. They need to be a lot better in game two.
Indiana Pacers
Indiana got a chance to get off to an easy start by hosting New York. They won with ease.
That continuity showed with five players in doubles figures. They were led by more than 30 points from Damontas Sabonis.
Combining that with 20+ each from their backcourt of Malcolm Brogdon and Victor Oladipo and it made for an easy win even though bubble sensation TJ Warren did not give them much.
Indiana went big in the opener starting Sabonis with Myles Turner. They probably run that back as long as it is a winning formula.
Indiana did not get a ton from the bench in the opener. That didn’t hold them back though and they probably don’t need a ton from that group to beat the Bulls.
Indiana is a good team. After just one game they definitely look ahead of schedule. The players are the same but they do have a new coach in Nate Bjorkgren.
Bjorkgren was previously on Toronto’s bench, helping them win a title a couple of seasons ago.
Chicago Bulls
The Bulls were out of their open against Atlanta by the end of the first quarter. That is what happens when you give up 42 points in the first quarter of the season.
I am not fond of the mix on this club. There is talent but not much on court leadership. None of their young guys seem to be able to really contribute to winning much.
Added to that mix is rookie Patrick Williams. The athletic wing started and played significant minutes, scoring 16 points. He is more role player/defender than a guy to feature right now.
Zach Lavine is a classic example. He is a gifted scorer but none of the teams he has ever been on have been good. It is not all his fault but it doesn’t seem to change either. Chicago is going to be one of the worst teams in the NBA this season.
NBA Betting Trends:
- IND are 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 Sat. games.
- Under is 6-2 in IND last 8 overall
- Over is 8-3 in CHI last 11 Sat. games.
- CHI are 8-19 ATS in their last 27 Sat. games.
- Over is 7-3 in CHI last 10 vs. NBA Central.
Free Indiana Pacers vs. Chicago Bulls NBA Prediction:
Fading the Bulls is definitely going to be a strategy this season. They are bad and until they develop an on court leader they are going to struggle from possession to possession.
This is the first road game of the season for the Pacers but I am not too worried about this group right now.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Pacers -5
The Pacers probably win this game by 10 so giving up half of that makes this a pretty good value.
